Working out just freaking sucks!
Excellent article. In February when I met with my PCP to get a bariatric referral he looked at me and said - Exercise should be fun. You don't have to hurt yourself to get in the appropriate amount of exercise. Just get back to walking for 30 minutes - with the kids, with the dog, just walk. This is a much different message than the one I heard from the muscle head (oh, I meant trainer) that I paid to torture me two times a week. He was all about getting me to run on the treadmill for 30 minutes at a steep incline.....yeah, right. I have really enjoyed returning to walking around the neighborhood instead of trying to be a trialthlete!
Just be aware of the fact that the walk you currently do will not have the same caloric burn in 6 months. However as you lose weight you will discover what used to be torture can now be a challenge and an enjoyable one.

I am aware and that is one of the reasons I have chosen to have RNY. I used to enjoy exercising and as I have gained weight it has become harder to do without injuring myself. A couple years ago I broke my ankle sliding into 2nd base. Two surgical procedures later my ankle is now held together by a plate and some screws. Following this injury I just couldn't return to the same intensity. Then exercise became something that just freaking sucks.
What I am enjoying about this leg of my journey is finding new ways to exercise without the imposed pressure to perform like a triathlete. My pipe dream is to one day walk my city's half marathon. Thanks for the reassurance the my dream may one day become a reality.

Your dream is more than possible but completely doable.
The one thing I have learned is that if I work for it I can accomplish my dreams.
