Dumb Question....about eating and when to drink
So, I am assuming it's 30 minutes after completely done eating but as I was eating breakfast is it from the start of eating or the last bite? I appreciate your answers, probably really over thinking this but want to be sure I'm not doing something wrong. Sometimes I've counted from the beginning of eating. Thanks! Sherry
This is what my nutritionist said...from what I can remember mind you...You should stop drinking fluids 30 minutes before you eat. Your meal should take at least 30 minutes to consume...then you need to wait 30 minutes after you have finished to start drinking again. So you should be without fluids for at least 1.5 hours during main meal times...that means 4.5 hours for meals and if you do 3 snacks a day on top of meals...that's another 3 hours of not drinking...so around 7.5 to 8 hours a day you should not be consuming liquids. Assuming you sleep for 8 hours a night, that means you have 8 hours total to get in your 64 to 80 oz of water a day. Of course if your snack is a protien drink or yogurt or any other liquid/smooth snack....I don't believe drinking is going to be an issue with those since they slide through fairly quickly on their own.
30 minutes from the last bite.

I was told no liquids 15 min before and 60 min after last bite.

I was told the same as Larry - 60 minutes after the last bite. Two things happen to me if I don't wait long enough. First, I feel nauseous mixing the food that is already in my stomach with liquid. And secondly, I get hungry way faster because it washed the food out of my pouch. Doctor said that's one of the reasons people regain.
