No carbonation will not stretch your pouch if that is what you are asking.  It can make you very uncomfortable.  I can't have more than a sip or so of anything with bubbles.  Makes me miserable.  Others don't have that problem.

Is your surgeon is ok with you having caffeine?

It's a stimulant and can cause frequent urination leading to dehydration.

there is actually a good deal of research indicating that caffeine does not lead to dehydration, at least not in most instances.  If someone is unaccustomed to drinking caffeine and suddenly consumes a very large amount, it might be an issue for them, but even then, if they drink normally, it most likely won't be a problem.

I read somewhere that its the carbonation in sodas that leach out your calcium from bones, and teeth, and that people who drink corbonated beverages have a larger waist size than others. I think it was in Self magazine. Maybe you could take it in your mouth and swish around to get the taste and then spit it out.

It might give you painful gas, it might not.  There is no way anyone can know that in advance.

It will not stretch or damage your pouch, if that's what you mean.

Drinking carbonation will not cause your pouch to stretch but it can cause gas cramps and digestive distress if your pouch is sensitive. I do not drink cola flavors too often because the phosphoric acid interferes with calcium absorption.

I have been drinking 2-12 ounce cans of Diet Mountain Dew a day since 20 months post-op with no problem. I also drink 64 ounces of water a day with a sugar free drink mix.

I do not drink liquids with meals. I drink liquids up to the time I eat a meal and wait for 1 hour after eating a meal to resume drinking.
