I'm guessing that will motivate him!  Tell him the weight loss will probably increase your sex drive and if he won't get snipped, you will be shopping online for some accessories since you will not be getting it on with him.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

If your husband is anything like mine the no sex option just might work. We have 4 kids as well. I couldn't get my tubes tied when I gave birth to the twins (3 1/2 yrs ago) because I had them in a catholic hospital that didn't do tubaligations. So I had a talk with hubby and explained that I had given birth to 4 children 2 vaginally and 2 (twins) by c-section and there was no way that I was gonna get cut again. The girls were born in late August it took him to March to see that I was serious about the no sex thing and decide to go ahead and get snipped. He was in a little pain that first day. By the next day the pain changed to discomfort he was still able to coach my son's basketball team. On the other hand if I had the surgery I would have been out of commission for atleast 4wks.

I actually asked my surgeon about it and he said he wouldn't do it because he isn't an OB/GYN. I was bummed. I'm getting an IUD put in on Thursday because my OB doesn't want me to have a other abdominal surgery since I had RNY. I've been asking my husband to get snipped for 3 years and he hasn't, so I got tired of worrying about it.

Please dont let your surgeon do the surgeon - you need an OB/GYN to do that.  The only way I could see it is if you had 2 surgeons doing it but if it requires 2 sets of incisions which it most likely does due to the locations, I woulnt do it.

Years ago, I had terrible abdominal pains so my GYN went in to do an exploratory surgery to see if I had adhesions or endometriosis.  I asked if while in there, my appendix could be taken out since my dad's little brother died from a leaking appendix 30 years prior, they had no idea that anything was wrong until it was too late.

So, when I had the surgery, they didnt find anything in my abdomen to cause the pain but they took out my appendix and the pain went away completely.  The surgeon and GYN said my apppendix was probably somehow hitting or sitting on a nerve causing the severe pain.  I didnt really care what the reason, I just wanted it gone.

My surgeon just told us that we needed to use 2 forms of birth control and we would be safe.  Many people use IUD's, some use DepoProvera injections and others use birth control with one of them.  Many years ago, long before my surgery I had a pancreas problem causing severe malabsorbtion, I used a birth control patch which goes directly into your blood stream and bypasses your digestive system.  It worked great and didnt have to worry about aborbing it.  I have read on here that you have to be under 200 pounds for it to be totally effective which for me wasnt necessary since I was using it to stop my periods since my iron deficiency was so bad, so I couldnt afford to lose any more blood.  I was way over 200 pounds.  If you use the patch along with something else, it should work fine.  You might want to look into it and talk to a pharmacist, your GYN and your surgeon about what works best.
