So I'm 5 days postop and suppose to be walking three times daily. Problem is I am lethargic in the morning being on this clear sugar free liquid stage I dont seem to get any motivtion to move around until around noon and its already almost 100 degrees outside and I get so winded trying to just walk outside. Everyday I feel a little better but still have not been able to walk. I do walk around the house and clean up after my 3 year old all day. I have done laundry and dishes. Any other post ops having a hard time with the exercise?

I think that's fine for now.  I know for that first week to week and a half post op I only walked laps inside my house (I have an open floorplan so I could actually go in circles.).  Or I would walk down to my mailbox (we have a lonnngg driveway) a couple times a day.

Honestly, i did nothing until month 7. And I still got to goal. I was exhausted and it hurt to do much when I was so heavy. After 6 months, I was 100 pounds thinner and my energy was finally coming back so I started exercising. I love it now, but it did take a while for me to love it again.

The exercise that early in really just helps with the bubbles and getting you mobile again. It sounds like you're doing more than enough honestly.

I didn't seriously start excersizing, and that's just walking on a treadmill until around 3.5 months out. I had a long recovery and post op issues though.

If you're getting around your house ok, I feel you should be fine or now.

Congrats!

I think moving after surgery is a great idea to prevent blood clots, relieve gas,and to start building up your body, but I have my own pet peeve about the big  exercise push right after Gastric Bypass surgery.

It  seems like ignorance of the obese trickles down to this area of our recovery process. By this I mean, when I had other surgeries in my life such as;  gall bladder out years before surgery,  tumor removed from my abdomen, tonsils/adenoids out as an adult, hysterectomy, both wrist operated on, or even oral surgery, NO one ever wanted me to trot around with the exception of small walks to prevent blood clots. It was known by everyone, including the medical professionals that I was in pain, had just been through a physical ordeal, and needed time to get back in the swing of things as I felt up to it. With WLS, it was more like, recovery is secondary, and if you're not in an exercise program immediately, you're slacking which is of course why we got fat anyway right?...Wrong!

I'm not opposed to exercise, and enjoy moving. My job requires a lot of walking, so I optimize on that, and I worked my way up from using the elevator to use the stairs starting with one floor at a time. I take pleasure walks, and swim when I have free time. I park far away when shopping, dance (with the curtains closed) in my living room, and use small weights to do repetitive exercises when talking on the phone. I have access to a gym, but haven't been able to extend my day past 24 hrs, so they'll have to spin without me for now.

I did not go out for walks 3 times a day when I came home from the hospital. Lets face it, I wasn't able to do it before surgery, so I wasn't about to do it with an 8 in*****ision in my abdomen. I've upped the challenges as I feel stronger and better, which I think is more maintainable for me, and I think I've done well so far and am continuing to lose.

Thank  you guys I feel better. I do move around the house all day and even was able to help cook dinner with the hubby last night. I did the dishes while everyone else ate. I was able to talk with them and feel like part of the family at least.
