My body proved me wrong

So couple days ago I posted that I was trying to hold off on having my gallbladder surgery as long as possible and I was able to deal with the pain and other side effects. Well, my body had something else in mind lol. My gallbladder went from being ugh to OMG!!! I can't even drink water without feeling sick. I called my doc to schedule the surgery and hoped to get in within a week or soo....Nope try 3 weeks.(he is on vac next week) I'm schedule either July 2nd or 3rd. They don't have the ex time yet. They put me on soft foods, but mostly liquids. Yay!! Not. The pain is sharp all the time in my right side and shoots up to my shoulders and lower leg. You can feel the heat difference from my left side to my right side. I asked the nurse today (i had my dietant appt) If I could get pain meds to help me when I'm at work. She has to talk to the doc to see if I can have some or what kind. So that's my vent. But I have a question as well, some people have told me when you get your gallbladder out you lose weight? Is this true? I have gain 6 pounds this last month and my dietan believes it is from my gallbladder retaining water and such. Thanks :)
I had my gall bladder removed in 2006 and I never lost weight from it. It might be because a lot of people tend to get diarrhea after having it removed, due to not having the juices from the gall bladder to break down the fats, so they eliminate those things that cause the diarrhea... which would help with weight loss? I had that problem for several years, but it didn't make me lose weight... I just had to be near a bathroom if I was going to eat anything fatty. For me the worst thing was cream, which I used to drink in my coffee. Instead of not eating those fatty things any longer (like I should have done) I started taking a anti-diarrheal so I could eat the fatty stuff.
I was in serious pain with my gallbladder...it was worse than labor. I went to the ER and they told me to have surgery, and since I have old trauma with surgery, I opted to go home. The next day when I woke...just drinking water was beyond agony...so I called to book the surgery. The nurse told me with that pain, I needed to go back to the ER and get it out immediately. Good thing I did - I had a stone blocking off my liver.
Weight loss was never something that happened for me, but I was one of the oh so lucky ones that had issue with diarrhea after eating something with too much fat.
I hope you can get some relief!

I'm not your doctor or any doctor, but it can't be right to wait 3 weeks for surgery. As the previous poster indicated, something life-threatening could be going on. At the very least, you are in serious pain. I remember my gall bladder pain being close to transition labor on the pain scale.
I lost 20+ pounds before and after my gall bladder removal from not being able to eat much. Of course, I gained it all back and more. (That was preWLS.)

If your pain is extremely bad I would just go into the ER. That's what I did & I had my surgery the next morning. GB pains are extremely painful & I hate you are having to go through that. I thought I was having a heart attack when mine started acting up. Best of luck to you. You are in my thoughts & prayers.

Thanks for the replies. My doc said if I get a bad attack I need to admit myself to the er to have it taken out then. I am worried about my stones getting suck and causing more problems. But I guess it's life and I have to take it how it is :) For those of you who had, or still have everything run threw you(bathroom wise) I have been having that over a month now. It is a pain lol. Thanks again
yeppers go to the ER....they will take it out ASAP if they feel it needs to come out...i ended up in the ER and was admitted had boat loads of tests and it came back it was my gall bladder, i had stones blocking and several of them...the dr said i was on the verge of GETTING VERY SICK, my sister in law had her rupture and had gangreine set in and was in very bad shape a long time ago....so i was glad that i went in with what i had.....this was several years ago..there is no reason to have that much pain for 3 weeks...when i first went in, they (ER) and I thought i was having a heart attack, my base PCM said i was to go straight to the ER...i had been having some pain off and on for a couple of weeks but the night before i had a major pain attack, was doubled over in the kitchen....got thru it and called the next morning and was told to go to the ER immediately...
so just go....you will feel better

Contrary to what some posters have said, you can in fact wait. Mine was very, very infected. I could barely walk and was unable to eat or sleep and my dr refused to take it out for that very reason. He put me on antibiotics and kept me in the hospital to get the infection under control before he took it out. He felt this was safer. It totally sucked! If you feel heat, than you probably have an infection. Are you running a fever? I would go to the ER and let them figure it out.
