Will you be out of the hospital, my surgeon allowed me to be discharged before 48 hours was up.  I was very much able to walk, talk, and sit; however, I know of someone who wasn't able to do very much.  I didn't take any narcotics in the hospital or at home, just took liquid tylenol.  Some people don't do well on narcotics as it can make them very tired, feel sick, or even get sick, so depending on if you will be on any and how you react to them.   I think it is a far stretch to attend a long confrence two days out, but anything is possible if you put your mind to it!  Best of luck with your surgery and a speedy recovery!

Everyone is different... I had surgery on a Wednesday, and was kept till Friday, and I had absolutely no complications. When I got home Friday, I could walk but I don't think there would have been a way that I could have attended a conference. But like I said, everyone is different.

From my personal experience, I would say no.  I ended up staying in hospital 3 days.  When I got home I certainly didnt do much of anything, didnt feel like it.  But then as everyone says, everyone is different.

Good luck.

You'll be able to walk the same day you have surgery, unless you have some serious complications.  But just two days post op, you'll probably be in a fair amount of pain, may be nauseous, will be exhausted, may have only been discharged from the hospital that day.  I cannot imagine you'd feel like attending a conference.  If you feel up to it, it would be OK to go, but I'd be amazed if you felt up to it.

I had very little pain, discharged within 24 hours and no complications however there is no way I could make a conference. You will just be so tired, bloated and gassy.

Any chance you can delay your surgery until after the conference?  I think 2 days would be REALLY pushing it.

Play it safe and say no.  Even if you are up and about I can almost guarantee you won't feel like sitting through anything like that.  Wait a few days and schedule the surgery after the conference if it can't wait.

You will have just had major surgery. I don't even think any surgeon would recommend you to try to attempt it. Walking around home and all that is a lot different than getting dressed and sitting somewhere for any lenght of time.  Also you will do not know if you will be sick to your stomach, or have explosive diareah like I did and thank god I was at home.  Good luck!
