Surgery tomorrow=emotional tonight
RNY on 06/21/12
So I have to be at the hospital at 5:15am tomorrow for my 7am surgery. My husband and I just got back from dropping off our three amazing kids (Ages 6, 4, and 10 months) at my sisters and I am just a wreck. I made it to their driveway before I started crying. This is normal, right? I really don't have any worries about the surgery and my decision but couldn't help but have every worse case scenerio go through my head as I was kissing my babies goodnight. Wondering if I will get any sleep tonight or just spend it crying & missing my kids already. Ugh.

Completely normal.....
And just so you know, you will probably cry in the morning too. I know I did. You might even want to jump off the gurney when you are being wheeled into surgery. I know I did. You might wake up and think WHAT THE HELL HAVE I DONE? I know I did.
This journey you are on is an emotional roller coaster - knowing that is half the battle. When the ride stops and you exit to the right, you will be glad it is over, but glad you took the journey too,
Good luck tomorrow,
Julie

This time tomorrow, you will be done with the first step in your journey.
Allow yourself time to grieve (YES, grieve) because you are saying goodbye to one life, and hello to another.
As a parent, it's totally normal to stress because of course, you're having major surgery and there are risks. However, you will be fine.
Allow yourself to feel this, then remember the hard work you put in to be where you are.
GOOD LUCK!

I cried all night long, too. I was doing pretty good until I went to tuck my little 4 year old into bed and told her how much I loved her. Broke down sobbing. Poor thing wasn't sure what to think. She started crying too.
What you're experiencing is completely normal. Good luck to you tomorrow. I know you're going to do great!

My surgery is July 2nd and I totally hear ya. I actually met with my psychiatrist today (whom had the surgery as well) and told him how anxious I am. He said.. well that is normal... but afterwards you are going to loose so much weight right away, you are going to be toooooo busy feeling so great about yourself you won;t have time to worry. LOL.... Made me realize I HAVE to focus on the "what if positives" rather than the "what if negatives."
hang in there and update us asap!!!!
