got my neurotomy scheduled
Unfortunately, I was not able to get it done before I go on my vacation. Also unfortunately, I was told they have to do it on two different days. They will do the right side of my back on the first appointment, then one week later do the left side. I asked why it can't all be done at once and the nurse didn't really seem to know. She said they always do it that way, and when I asked why, said it's "too much to do at once" and there is "less risk" if they do it that way. But she didn't explain what the risk was or how it was reduced by splitting it up into to appointments. I mean, they did explain the risks of the procedure, but not why it would be riskier to do it all at once.
It's OK with me to split it up, although my partner is not thrilled because that means he has to take off work two days instead of one. But mostly I just wondered why because when I saw the doc, he didn't mention that to me. The only bad thing I'm think is, if it hurts a lot (and I suspect it will), I would rather get it all done at once. Who wants to do something painful, and then spend the next week looking forward to doing it again?

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
Sorry you will have to wait so long for the procedure. Looking forward to meeting you on your vacation!!
