OT - my kitty Cayenne

Cayenne is at the vet's right now.

She had surgery two weeks ago to remove two masses from her abdomen.  One was benign, the other was cancer, the same type of cancer she had two years ago.  Two days ago, she had her staples removed.  She seemed to be feeling fine, was eating, energetic, almost playful.

Last night she refused to eat dinner, which is so unusual for her.  This girl loves to eat!  She refused to eat this morning, as well.  She had not taken any food or water in at least 24 hours.  She has been hiding under the bed.

We called the vet and they tried to tell us our regular vet was off today and the other vet in the practice could not see her and the best they could do was give us an appointment tomorrow.  Well, a diabetic cat with cancer cannot go 48 hours without drinking or eating anything.  We called another local vet, who was happy to work her in today.  Then we went to our vet's office to get copies of her records for the new vet.  It so happened that our regular vet was there, doing an emergency surgery.  When he was informed we were there to get her records, he came out and talked to us and said he would see her today.  He seemed unaware that his staff had refused to give us an appointment until tomorrow.  Well, he is aware now!

So Cayenne is there now and he will see her as soon as he finishes the emergency surgery.  I don't know what might be wrong.  Her incisions look very good, no sign of infection.  I can just tell something is very, very wrong.  On the way to the vet, she lay on the back seat quietly.  Usually she runs around the car and howls.  She ran around the car and howled on the way home the day she had surgery.  But today, she just lay there.

I hope it's something really minor. I don't know what I'd do if my Niobe was sick!

The vet just called.  She has a temp of 105 degrees.  He is going to do some blood work and a chest x-ray.

But 105 degrees.  and they tried to get us to wait to take her in until tomorrow.  I know a cat's normal temp is a bit higher than a human's.  but still, 105 is high.
