The vet wants her to stay there overnight. this is not making sense to me, though. I asked if there was staff there overnight, and he said no. So I said, then wouldn't it be better for her to come home with me so she won't be alone all night? He said no, because he would be there for a while this evening and then the tech or someone would be in early in the morning, and she need sub-q fluids ad antibiotic injections and they need to see if she eats or drinks.
But she is going to be alone there for several hours. How will they know if she is eating or drinking if no one is there to watch her? And no one will be giving her fluids or injections when no one is there. I kept trying to ask him why it was better for her to be there alone in the middle of the night than to be at home where I could keep an eye on her, and either he wasn't understanding my question or I wasn't understanding his answer. He said something about I can't give her fluids and injections at home, and I said, you can't give her those either if you are not here to do that. Besides, I can give her fluids at home. I did that with another cat once. And I give her insulin injections every day, I could give an antibiotic injection just as easily. If she is getting medical care there that she would not be getting at home, then that's fine, she should be there. But I hate to think of her alone all night.
And I'm afraid she may not make it through the night. I don't want her to die all alone in a cage at the vet's, where she is scared and unhappy. But that's where she is right now. I hope she's still alive in the morning.
