Don't people read their surgeon's meal plan?
Most surgeons give patients written meal plans. Many give patients a big binder of info. I guess there may be some that don't give patients written meal plans, but I think most do. Some even have their meal plans online.
But I see posts on here all the time with people asking when they can eat certain foods. I realize that no written meal plan is going to contain lists of every single food in existence along with when to add that food to your diet. The meal plan I was given, though, did list the different stages (full liquids, pureed, soft foods, regular diet) and when to start eat stage of diet. It listed examples of what to eat at each stage and it wasn't too hard to figure out where a particular food fit even if that food wasn't listed.
So how is it that so many people don't know when they can start eating bread, or salad, or nuts, or pizza, or whatever? Are they not getting meal plans with this information? And if not, perhaps we all need to mention to our surgeons that patients are not getting the info they need about what they can eat and when to advance their diets.

I would certainly hope that all surgeons give their patients some form of meal plans
after surgery! I know what you are talking about as far as alot of people asking the
questions. My guess is that they tend to see what others are eating and compare
surgery dates and wonder why it's not on their list. Maybe there's validation in
starting early, if someone else says "it's okay....I'm doing it"? That would be my guess.
I recall wanting to start softs sooner than my plan said. Thankfully, you and Nik
convinced me otherwise. I can assure you I probably would have done it, if it not for being
met with resistance....haha. Anyhow, that's my best guess.
AND..yes...if your surgeon didn't give you info, you'd better speak up!!

I also dump, and I dump on a lot of High Fructose Corn Syrup. And if there's a lot of the worst kinds of fats added into HFCS then I dump. But natural sugars and good fats don't mess me up. Generally pizza has a lot of fat, but it doesn't bug me too much. (I only ate toppings until I hit goal).
