I've only gotten them once with pork. I'm not sure if it was the food or because I ate to fast but I'll be interested to see responses becaue I NEVER want to do that again!

I get them from not chewing something well enough, or eating something that disagrees with my pouch. I usually end up throwing up if I get them. So I know what to expect in 5 or 10 minutes.

My understanding is that the esophagus kicks out saliva and mucous in an attempt to flood out the clog or unchewed food. I get it often. Usually when I eat too fast, or dont chew it well enough.

Foamies are caused by eating too fast and/or not chewing your food well enough. Sometimes, it's both together.

The good thing about them (yes, there is a good thing) is that getting them is a great teacher (negative reinforcement) about the need to slow down, chew thoroughly, be mindful when you eat, stay in the moment when you eat and always give your pouch the respect she/he deserves.

They are also a symptom of a stricture.

Either way, take your time, eat slowly and chew thoroughly. If you still get the foamies and/or throw up consistently, consult with your doctor.

Chew EVERY bite 25 times.  See if it still happens.  Also, if you notice that just dtinking water hurts and feels like a vortex (sucking) when you drink, you have a stricture.  I had one before.  They are easy to fix.

I've only had the foamies once, prior to throwing up. It was after I ate too quick and didn't chew very well. I hurt for about 1.5 hrs before, and was very releived afterwards.
