So today I got a call from my surgeons office. I was suppose to have an appointment on Monday July 2nd and I was super excited because I was going to talk to my surgeon about revision from the band I have to RNY. Well today they told me that my insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia) is no longer in network. They did say that they are in talks and that possibly they could be starting a new contract in August. What am I suppose to do now? I feel a little lost. Do I get a referal to a new surgeon? Do I wait and see? Any Ideas or anyone no of a surgeon around metro Atlanta?

There are bound to be 100's of good surgeons around Atlanta. I wouldn't wait on him. He dropped all of his patients on your insurance company so I would drop him.

If your heart is set on this particular surgeon, know your plan benefits. Are you on a PPO style where you can go out of network with slightly higher cost shares? Or do you have an HMO style plan that requires you to go in network?

You can always check you plan's website to find out which surgeons are in network.

good luck
