i need more protein
HI,
I just had surgery 6/4/12, so I havent found a good protein powder, yet.
BUT, I really like the red Passion Fruit Punch flavor of ISOPURE. Isopure is a clear beverage that comes in a lot of flavors but most of them have a funny metallic like aftertaste. So, I drink the fruit punch and sometimes I add the MIO SF flavor to it that comes in those little squirt bottles. Isopure is kind of expensive ($4 - $5 per 20oz bottle), but each 20 oz bottle has 40 GRAMS of protein. So...... it makes the 64g goal everyday, esp right after surgery attainable. I usually buy Isopure at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe.

I hear ya sister on those protein shakes! There is no part of my being that can even begin to get through one of those nasty things. I've tried many with the same results every time.
I do however love all the protein options you listed on your "no" list but I'm only nine days post-op. So I'm just praying my limited protein intake will not be too detrimental until I'm able to get off the full liquids.
Baja Fresh will sell you a side of chicken or steak - both of which are extremely tender, juicy and I anticipate will be a great way to get my protein - once I'm at that stage. I haven't checked yet but I hope Chipotle will sell just the side as well!
Good luck and hang in there - seems like you've gotten a lot of good suggestions!

A couple of comments -
Really work hard to get in your protein - you don't want to get protein deficient (I've been there)
Try ground beef dishes, where you mix the ground beef in a sauce. I eat spaghetti sauce with lots of ground beef, there was a good chili rellenos recipe a few weeks ago on the lightweight board. I also mix ground beef with sour cream and mushrooms - DH adds noodles, but I just eat the beef and sauce.
Try adding a half scoop of protein powder to your regular yogurt.
Try adding a scoop of unflavored protein powder to a glass of crystal light lemonade. Drink it in a shaker bottle with a top, so you don't smell the protein powder, and it's not too bad.
Make some sugar-free home-made custard - it contains eggs and milk and is really tasty.
You might try Unjury Chicken Soup protein - it's like the broth that Raman noodles come it.
Do you like other types of fish - talapia, salmon, shrimp? All of these are good sources of protein.
Good Luck!!

I am six weeks out and struggle with the same thing. In the morning I eat Healthy Choice peice of toast with Natural Peanut butter and that hits the spot and has alot of protein. My NUT says that is absolutely fine.
I lived off of the Ricotta Bake which tastes like lasagna without the noodles and is very yummy.
Try the Babybel cheese..it is very good.
Go to vitalady.com and get the samples of nectar protein dringks. you get 15 packets for like 14.00. I love the caribbean cooler..tastes like a pina colada.
