OT- today's update on Cayenne

Cayenne got through the night and she drank a fair amount of water but has refused to eat anything. I offered her everything I could think of and she just had no desire to eat at all.  But she drank water and she followed me to the bathroom several times and wanted me to put her up on the counter because she likes to drink out of the sink.  When she wasn't drinking, she was mostly sleeping.  I slept very little all night.  I finally did go to bed, but slept very lightly.  She was sleeping on a pile of papers on my desk and every time she moved I could hear her and sat up to look at her and see what she was doing.

My power went off in the middle of the night so I had to find a flashlight and turn that on every time I wanted to see her.  You know how hot it was in my house without air conditioning?  Blah.  Also, now my internet will not work at home, although the power is back on.

Cayenne did not pee all night, as far as I know.  If she peed, I didn't see her do it and I don't know where she did it at.  I don't think she peed.  Which seems odd since she was drinking.

She is back at the vet's now, getting some more blood work done.

drinking but not eating could just be because she doesn't feel well. Not peeing could be a problem, so I am glad she is at the vet. I will be thinking of you and her....

Not eating is a problem because she's diabetic.  Her diabetes is usually well controlled with diet and a very small dose of insulin but if she's not eating, it throws that all off.

Hope Cayenne is feeling better soon.  So sad when they can't tell us what's going on.

It is sad that they can't tell us things.  She can't say what hurts and the vet is having trouble figuring it out.  And all night I was trying to watch her really closely because she can't tell me that she is thirsty or something.  Most of the time she is pretty good at letting me know what she wants.  For instance, if she goes in the kitchen and stands by the cupboard where we keep the treats and meows loudly, she wants treats.  But she doesn't feel well so she's not likely to be as vocal about what she wants now, plus she is not likely to want the things she usually wants.  I want to bring her water so she doesn't have to get up if she doesn't want to, so I was trying to watch her all night and guess what she wanted.  Needless to say, I am exhausted  now.
