Fats?
I get healthy fats from olive oil, nuts and nut butters, seeds, and occasionally flaxseed oil capsules if I think I'm not getting enough fat in my diet. I also use whole milk about once a day so I get fat from that.
Some types of fish also contain healthy fats, but I don't eat any meat.
Why does your mom think you must get fat from canola oil?

How often are you getting some form of healthy fats?

You are getting fats from nuts and cheeses and foods. Call and ask them if they meant you HAD to have that oil in addition to all other foods.
I'd vomit if I had to consume raw oil.

I get most of my (limited) fats from almonds or cashews, regular (full fat) cheeses, red meat, peanut butter, 1% milk, and tuna.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

I realized at around a year out that almost everythign I was eating was zero fat naturally. I started changing things up with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I never EVER eat "low-fat" or "no-fat" foods that are naturally full of fats.
I have some Extra Virgin Olive Oil combined with Canola Oil that I'm planning on experimenting with making marinades whenever I get around to looking up some recipes and giving them a shot. For now I'm currently enjoying marinated artichoke hearts (33 oz, in canola oil, for $10 at costco) with my salads. 2 to 3 pieces is a single serving, approximately 27 calories per serving, with a lot of fiber, a good dose of fat, and some protein and regular carbs, but not much!)
