How long after sugery did you return to work?
I am STILL waiting on approval from my insurance company. Its insane the hoops they make us jump through. The scheduler at my surgeon's office (the one that deals with the insurance companies) said she's confident they will approve my appeal (as I've completed everything the required when they sent me the letter saying No), but she thinks they will take their sweet time using the full 30 business days. Unfortunetly, I'm an event planner and I have an BIG event towards the end of September. She thinks I will be able to get in for surgery on August 17. Can anyone share with me what YOUR recovery period was like (I know, we're all different), and how long I should expect to be out of work or on light duty?
Thanks :-) Katy

Surgery on Monday, back to work the following Monday. I was tired, but it was do-able. In fact, it felt good to get back in a routine rather than sitting at home thinking about what I couldn't eat.
I had zero complications and a very easy recovery. Sore for a couple of days, but I did not take any pain meds after I left the hospital.
Good luck!

I have a very strenuous job as a critical care nurse. My surgeon assures me I can go back now - almost 3 weeks out - only as far as the physical activity. He however has me out a full 6 weeks because he stated learning to eat again is tricky and there is ALWAYS food where I work. I do not feel physically capable of working a 12 hour night shift yet, but I am getting close.
Took two weeks off. Probably could have gone backs after 1 week. My job is not physically demanding and I work part time. My recovery was pretty easy and uncomplicated.
I will say that I had a family event around time I was able to first schedule my surgery. I ended up delaying my surgery by 3-4 mths (very tough to swallow) as I didn't want any unforeseen complications interfering with this event. It was hard but well worth the wait.
Andrea.
