Drinking alcohol with RNY
My surgeon didn't have the wait 6 months to a year rule. I was actually told I could drink at my son's wedding (I was 7 weeks out) but I didn't. I did try some cognac about a week ago and didn't have any problem. I sipped very slowly. I didn't get drunk, but I do have a tendency to babysit my drinks. I also don't drink very often (anymore, I used to) it's usally a social thing with me. So, I'm pleased that I can still have a shot of Henny I just know I can't do shots like I used to.

I tried a drink for the first time this past week for the 4th celebrations and did fine with it...At a bar I had a long island iced tea and didn't even get tipsy..
A day later at home i had 1 glass of moscato. I got REALLY tipsy..to the point i was stumbling but not tipsy enough where I wasnt aware of what I was doing or that I needed to sit now. After about 20 mins I was completely sober though.
Those are the only 2 drinks since surgery. I wouldnt suggest drinking though..I'm only 3m post op and though I personally was told it was ok..I think the risks outweigh the benefits lol..but then again..when is drinking ever beneficial

I had RNY surgery 10 years ago, lost 110 lbs, and kept it off for about 6 years. After a personal tragedy, death of both parents a year apart, and m mentaly ill step son moving into my home I started to drink. I have gained 60 pounds mostly from Alcohol. Please be careful.
