I used to eat those a long time ago. I don't think they are horrible for you but you can eat almost a whole apple for 60 calories. A half cup of strawberries are only 45 calories. I kinda equate them with drinking juice. We are supposed to eat our calories not drink them. Also there's a benefit to getting the water in our food. I have been reading that you can hydrate your body more effectively with water based food than just drinking water alone. Don't know if there's any truth to that but its something to ponder. Plus real fruit takes up volume in your stomach whereas dried fruit doesn't. My fruit portions are really small now.
Even at almost a year out, I wouldn't even consider eating one. It's basically like eating candy to your body. You would be much better off to eat the fresh version of the fruit or ideally, something with protein.
My biggest reason for not eating dried fruits and leathers is that they are HORRIBLE for your teeth. It gets all stuck in the nooks and crannies of your teeth and along with the ascorbic acid and the sugars from the fruit and you'll be paying me a visit at the dentist's office in no time!
Sorry, if it wasn't what you wanted to hear, but glad you felt comfortable to ask here,
