Need to vent about poor fashion choices post wls
I have mixed feelings about this. When MO I too bought what fit and slightly loose. I also have a professional job so not slovenly but boring.
Now I've noticed that even though I am wearing smaller sizes people are commenting that my clothes are still too big...I didn't even notice. Have tried smaller sizes but feel too uncomfortable...like the snug shirt shows off a few extra rolls over the bra etc. not really sure what looks better - a few rolls with a snuggish fit or looser fit not emphasizing any rolls...I feel I can't judge objectively.
Also, don't have a good sense if, when trying to be a little more interesting in my fashion choices, I am totally missing the boat. Thank goodness for my hip 16 year old :) she has no problem being brutally honest :)

Ouch! I think people should wear exactly what they want ... Who are we to decide that at a certain age/size/ whatever, someone should be wearing xyz???
I'm sure I make clothing choices that others wouldn't, just as I see others wearing stuff I wouldn't be seen dead in ...
Live and let live, I say!

Sorry but who defines too short? too revealing? and the what not to wear people are rude as heck, I'm sorry but people should wear what they are comfortable in. I have a mini skirt I wore on my birthday cruise when I hit 43 and was 244 pounds so I can guarantee you I will strut my stuff in one when I am slimmer. It's not like I'm wearing it to work or church.
You may not want to be judgemental but I find your post to be extremely. If I was a person who was dressed in an after photo like you describe I would def. have had my feelings hurt.
I think you should continue to dress how you feel good about yourself and let others do the same. When you see one that you define as too short or too revealing ask yourself why it matters to you? They aren't hurting you, they aren't hanging out with you, and thankfully they have the self esteem to try to pull it off.

Ok, I will put this out there. I have only two fashion pet peeves for post-ops (whoa. serious alliteration there!) and both of them I can understand from a psychological standpoint so I don't get on anybody about them.
#1 - wearing clothing that is too big!
Sometimes we just don't know we are wearing clothing that is two sizes too big. For some, it's a good feeling to see our clothing fitting so loosely and is tied to us feeling like we're succeeding. But I am hear to tell you that big clothing makes you look bigger! But again...I get it. I was there once.
#2 - women and bras
If I see one more droopy bra. Your girls need support! But again here I get the mentality. My bra size was once a 48HH. I am now a 38 DD. It used to be I couldn't find bras in a regular store and I didn't have many choices in terms of support. Now I have choices out the wazoo and it perplexes me sometimes. So I just quietly hope that our post-op women find their inner fembot and get a bra that lifts and supports (it really does make you look 5 lbs. lighter). But no judgment there either because this girl STILL has a completely unfounded fear of walking into Victoria's Secret so I am nobody to judge!

Ladies, if you have never been professionally fitted for a bra, you are missing out. If you haven't been professionally fitted in the last 20 pounds, it's probably time. Go to a pricey department store (the gals at Victoria's Secret seem less knowledgeable, more rushed, and more sales-oriented, IMHO), walk into the lingerie department, and say, "I need a bra fitting." They hear that all the time, and they will be happy to help you.
A couple of weeks ago, I went to Nordstrom and did just that. A very helpful young lady took me to a fitting room, measured me, gave me a warm robe to wear, listened to me, and then proceeded to bring me every single bra in the store that she felt would fit me comfortably and give me the level of support I was looking for. Now, it might feel a little weird to have someone else adjusting your bra, but it's like going to the doctor. That bra fitter has seen plenty of boobs, and mine were nothing special, I am sure.
I paid about $250 for 4 bras - I know, I know, but good bras last for years and if you buy cheaper, you will get what you pay for. I waited until I was almost to my goal weight and my back was hurting so bad I couldn't stand it. My clothes fit better, my back hurts less, and yes, I look at least 5 pounds lighter. Get those girls up where they belong, ladies!
