calcium supplements for RNY folks

I wanted to post a link to a list I made of calcium supplements for RNY folks.  These aren't the only acceptable calcium supplemets for us, but they are all calcium citrate, which we need, and gives you a good idea of what's out there.  Any supplement that is calcium citrate is OK, though, it doesn't have to be one on this list.  It just needs to not be calcium carbonate or tricalcium phosphate.

 Kelly-
I peeled this off Bariatric Advantage site- I bought some individual packs and they dissolved as advertised- any thoughts??

Our Calcium Crystals are a unique form of calcium that dissolves readily in water and most other liquids leaving minimal taste. This form, CalciumLactate-Gluconate, has a bioavailability comparable to Calcium Citrate, but is neutral pH and has very high solubility in water making it perfect for a drink mix. In addition, each serving of Calcium Crystal contains 600mg of Calcium as Lactate-Glucanate and a full 500IU of vitamin D3 to support bone health. You can add this delicious product to plain water or another drink of your choice as an easy and effective way to meet your daily needs for calcium and vitamin D. Calcium Crystals are available in a Tub of 60 servings, or bag of 25 individually wrapped stick packs unflavored.

Those are absolutely fine for us.  The calcium lactate-gluconate is absorbed very well, you just don't see it in supplements too often.

The only reason I did not include it in my list is because I included Upcal D, which is a very similar product, only much cheaper.  Like maybe half the cost.

My surgeon was at 8 am.... I swallowed my antidepressants that night about 8 pm.

The ASMBS says it's OK to swallow pills as soon as you can tolerate it.  Of course, the only way to know if you tolerate it is to try one and see.  I would imagine at ten weeks out you should be fine.  Most calcium pills are kinda big, though.
