Heartbroken

I am devastated.  Got the call this morning.  Insurance coverage denied because they cannot document five years of weight history.  My PCP sold her practice and somehow they have a three year gap with no records for me at all.  Nothing.

I can document three years but am missing two.

Totally devastated.

That happened to me but the person to whom the practice was sold had the paperwork. Another time I had an issue, the insurance company had all of the records. I had to drive to Cigna's office and pick them up and pay for them (which was stupid) but I was able to get them. Dig in and find out. Someone has those records. Don't give up!!!

I am trying everything I can.  Other specialists I have seen who may have recorded my weight.  Even went to the Minute Clinic since I knew I had been in '08 - they did not record my weight.

The person she sold her practice to does not have your records?  I"m pretty sure they legally have to keep them for at least seven years.  Maybe ten.

They have nurses notes and they have lab work from my annual thyroid checks but no other visits or weight history.

Those records must be in storage. Find out from the person she sold e practice to where all the complete records went. Call every doc you have seen in the past 5 yrs to see if they recorded your weight. This must be heartbreaking. I'm so sorry...sending good thoughts your way!

I had that issue. Pursue your doctor's office, ask for records, don't accept that they've lost them. I ended up having to wait until January of the next year because in spite of 20 years of weight history of super-morbid-obesity, they were missing one year in the middle.

They say no so those who CAN be discouraged WILL. Seek the records ask for ANYTHING even an affadavit from the doc if necessary, and then appeal. Usually if you show you're tenacious, they'll accept it.

Remember... keep at it.
