had my radiofrequency neurotomy today

Let me just say this.  When you've had a miserable two days, some Versed is a wonderful thing.  Too bad they wouldn't send any extra home with me for later.

Seriously, though.  I slept about three hours last night and less than that the night before.  As soon as they stopped torturing me, er, sticking sharp things in my back and zapping my nerve endings, I dozed off.  For almost an hour.  They woke me up to go home and I dozed in the car the whole way home, then crashed on the couch for a couple hours more.

The procedure hurt.  What do you expect when they stick big sharp needles in your back and zap your nerves with electricity?  Duh.  But that side of my back does not hurt now.  I do wish I didn't have to go back to get the other side done next week.  But it wasn't as horrible as I'd feared.

Plus, did I mention the Versed was nice?  I wonder if I can talk them into a third dose next time.

Kelly glad you are feeling better..this is your friend Patty I haven't been on for awhile!  No they won't give you more Versed....but it is nice because it makes you forget the pain.  Its an amnesiac plus for pain.  Love you PS I gaved 10 pds I'm trying to work off!  P

Kelly,   glad things went well with the procedure and you are feeling better on at least half of your back.   Also happy to hear that you were able to rest a little.    Hope things look clearer and not so hopeless on both the health and relationship score.    You have many of us out here that are pulling for you--and saying a few prayers for you too.   Hang in there gal.   You are an inspiration to many.

I am so glad something is being done for you promoting healing and less pain. Didn't they give you the versed before the needles and zapping? I would think they would use it during the procedure and not after, or maybe I am just confused.

Oh, I got some right before they get started and I got some more halfway through.  I was just saying I would not have minded some more after!

I would mention the pain when you go back, perhaps they didn't give you enough. It won't hurt to ask!

Thanks for sharing your response.

I'm still trying to get insurance approval ... our health insurance was taken over by some bigger company and I'm starting to realize that the new company is more obstructive than some, so they're just putting up road blocks. I was trying to find out today if they got approval yet, but so far no such luck.

Hopefully thy'll approve me tomorrow, and if they do, I'll have the RFA either Thursday or Friday. If I don't get it Thursday or Friday, then it'll be the 31st or later because the doc is outta town. I just don't want t go back to work in pain. Please!

Bit scary, I don't want pain!
