Are the old-timers (vets) on OH Condescending???

and I guarantee there won't be a hint of "I told you so" ...   We were all newbies, honeymooners, know it all new vets etc ...   We have probably all done some stupid things along the way and NONE of us ever believe we are perfect!

I remember when I was just new here on OH, and little did I know, but it would be close to 8 months before I would have my RNY, and I saw posts of what some of the "vets" were eating. I wanted to get on a big ol soapbox and tell them how awful it was that they were breaking all the rules and encouraging rule breaking.

Then I was two or three years out, and some newbie pre-op said what I wanted to say but didn't think I had a right because I didn't have a post-op tummy. I told her in one of my gentler tones that there was something about the changed anatomy that could NOT be explained, and so she should wait until she was postop, and a lot would be clear.

She flipped out on me, and said that it was my obligation to never EVER  post anything that I eat that might be one of her trigger foods. I think that was one person who blocked me that I was VERY grateful about. You can't argue with crazy.

But I understood her original post, and composed it in my mind even if I didn't actually post it.

Amen to that!  Call me mean, call me a ***** whatever.  If it motivates you to work hard and beat obesity - it's all good.

Amen!  As I asked above, what value would this board have if ALL the vets went the way that the vast majority do, leaving after they hit their goal weight???  It would be the blind leading the blind.

Now, if I only had a dollar for every PM that I have gotten from someone who got snarky with me about a response I gave that they didn't like and then, lo and behold, down the road they realize that I was right... and send me a PM to apologize for getting angry because they did not want to hear the truth or were under the influence or hormones or whatever.

I am growing increasingly weary of the *****ing by newbies, though.  The ungrateful attitude is discouraging.

 I love your wordy ways.
Most of my posts are one or two sentences. I am a minimalist I think.
I'm always grateful for all the veterans that stick around. I love them all. They are here to give and get support. They make it easier for all of us.

I'll admit I'm a grumpy vet. Sometimes it's exhausting being here. but then I get nice PM's from someone thanking me and I feel better.
