one week away

Well, I have one more wee****il my surgery. This liquid diet thing has been good and bad. I did have some pretty bad news this week and had the realization that my food/emotion meters are tied together with a neat little bow. Not a great thing, but I guess it's better to understand it. I have been in denial about it. Working on cutting that string!
Anyway, I found a favorite shake combo that has been keeping me going through my liquid diet phase. My 7 year old wakes up every morning and reminds what day of my diet I am on. This time next week I should be resting in my post op room and start the other side of my liquid diet.
This all felt so far away two months ago!!! I am bit nervous and have had those "what am I thinking?" "am I doing the right thing here?" "what if....." moments but those come and go. I am taking my girls camping this weekend to try to get some quiet time with them and to give my self a break from Dr's, apts and calendars!

I have vanilla protein powder that I use. I find I can add things to it and change up the flavor when I get bored, but my orange shake has been my fav for the past 4 or 5 days.
My Dr's office said I could use crystal light, but I am not a fan so while in the juice isle I was trying to find something else I could have that was sugar free but not have a sugar free flavor.. so I bought plain orange koolaid! .the rules of my plan are low sugar/low fat. So, I buy not sweetened Almond milk in the juice isle at walmart. They have plain or vanilla. I also bought some light cool whip. It has 1 gram of fat and 1 gram of sugar per two tbl spoons. I add a tbs to make my "shake" taste creamier. So I mix up the following
1 scoop of whey isolate protein -I buy at walmart (has 30 gram protein and 1 sugar per scoop)
1 tsp of orange koolaid mix-more or less to taste
1/4 cup ice to get it nice and cold (could just throw in the freezer I guess)
1 tbsp of LIGHT cool whip
1/4 cup of non sweetened almond milk
run it through my ninja a few spins.. I add more almond milk or a splash of regular milk if I need to get it thinner.
it has a nice orange/creamy, vanilla flavor, I can't really taste the protein powder and I actually enjoy drinking it.
I had tried adding PB or banana to my shakes even coffee extract but nothing wa****ting the spot. I've been told you could add Greek yogurt to it instead of cool whip to get a creamy taste, but I am not a huge fan of Greek yogurt and it still has a lot of sugar in it for me. I guess in theory you could use any koolaid mix, but I love me a cream pop and this taste just like that.
