I've been exercising

Really.  Hard to believe, huh?  Apparently a broken heart makes me restless.  Insomnia is nothing new for me but usually I'm happy to sit on the couch with my laptop when I can't sleep.  But lately I've been restless so I've been walking.  I live in a really safe neighborhood and you can go for a walk at 2:00 am.  Plus it's not hot then.  I didn't walk yesterday because of my back procedure but I walked the two days before that and I went for a walk earlier this evening, since it rained and cooled everything off.  I wonder how long this will last?

Exercising is like spring cleaning.  If you get the urge then do it for as long as the urge sticks cause you never know when it'll come back:)

Hee hee, that is exactly how I feel about cleaning!  Every once in a while I get the urge to clean and organize.  Doesn't happen every spring, though!  More like every leap year.

Wow, I saw this title and then who wrote it and I had to look twice.  So good to see this.  I am glad you feel good enough to exercise.  Can you believe I was disappointed when my chiropractor told me NOT to exercise?  Not even to ride my bike.  I finally have an excuse and I'm sad.  Yesterday I went to a water aerobics class and rode my bike.  I hate it when start and then I don't want to stop and after wards I feel so accomplished, like I did something good for myself for a change.  Even though it hurts when I do it, it hurts anyway.  It doesn't make it better or worse but I will follow directions and see if it helps.
Maybe someday I'll be able to talk you into finding a bike and riding it.  That really is fun to do, except for the damn hills.  I'm missing it already.

Believe it or not, I have a bike.  A fairly nice one.  I spent like $300 on it about ten years ago.  In the last eight years, I think I've ridden it maybe three times.  Isn't that awful?

I'm not working out hard.  I'm just walking.  At a fairly leisurely pace.  But it is more activity than sitting on the couch.

 Rock on, fellow exercise loather!
The walks will pick up your spirits. I should have gone on a walk today--I'm in slump and the weather was cool. Good for you for seizing the moment.

I never feel like I have time or enough oomph during the cool months in AZ. I have scads of time during the hot months, but it's, well, hot!

I'd hoped to turn a new exercise leaf this month, but alas, I've had issues that have made it hard to pursue the exercise.

At least I got 4 hours of strenuous exercise yesterday!

Well, you just need to develop insomnia!  What else is there to do at 2:00 am but go for a walk?

I remember when hubby and I first moved here, we were flumoxed to see that it's generally 90 or higher all night long, some nights it doesn't get below 100. It's freakishly hot here. The joke is that when someone is being bad in hell, they send them to AZ to burn.

My insomnia is as fierce as ever. I just don't sleep without sleep aids. I suppose I could give them up and start exercising. But alas, I don't really live in a low-crime area. We live within a mile of our high school, which is a seriously high-poverty school. While I feel safer than most do, since I'm fluent in spanish and have no real fear of those who speak only spanish... I am a woman, and it's a poor area. I once did a search on registered sexual offenders, and there are more than 10 in the vicinity who committed non-date and non-statutory rape. (it's upwards of 25 offenders when you throw in offenses that don't sound as scary)

Oh, I understand the safety issue.  Before I moved here, I lived downtown in a major city.  I worked about five blocks from my home and I would not walk home alone after dark.  There was on street parking and usually I could get a spot right in front of my building but I really hated it if I got home after dark and had to park down the street or worse, a couple blocks away.  I would have never gone for a walk in my neighborhood after dark.

Plus 90 is ridiculous in the middle of the night.
