I am only 4 months out from surgery and just now now what foods I can tolerate and what I can't but anyway I was pressed for time yesterday and worked about 10 hours so I decided to stop by Wendy's and get one of the chilis to take home to eat. Well they gave me the large size instead of the small so I said ok I will save what I don't eat for the next day. Well I was sitting down watching TV and about an hour went by while I was eating and I looked down and noticed that I ate the whole large Chili. NOW HOW IN THE WORLD COULD I HAVE DONE THAT. I did notice that I did have a pain for about 10 mins or so in my left side but I never throw up and usually I know my limits. I have never done this and still don't know how my stomach held that. The large chili I think is 12 ounces; our stomach is only suppose to hold no more than 4 ounces. I usually can't even eat hardly anything before I get that feeling that I know when to stop but I never got that feeling this time that I noticed. I wonder if it was because there is a lot of juice and mostly beans.

Hopefully I did not stretch my stomach or mess it up...I am fine and don't have any symptoms.

perfect example of how we are "not" mindful when eating in front of the TV (which we all do or have done)..... I'm sure you are fine but good that you are aware...   I love their chili :)

You were able to eat so much b/c the Chilli is a slider food, almost as easily as it goes in, it empties out.
You didn't ruin anything, but be aware that mindless eating, especially slider foods, increases your calorie intake and can affect your weight loss.
Best to measure your portion out and eat only that.

Yes - chili is pretty liquidy.  Most soups slide down and out for me too.  Salad does too for some reason.  Just a slip....you're back today!

Also be aware that you shouldn't be eating over the course of an hour. I can only imagine what I could fit into my pouch if I ate slowly over an hour. I eat at a regular pace and when I feel full I stop, but if by 20 minutes or so I am not full, I still stop.

Thanks everyone for the help. I will be more cautious next time and pay attention to what I am doing.  Doing that is what got me in a bad place and had to have the surgery and don't want to go back to that again.

My surgeons rule is you afre not to eat any longer than 30 min.  At this point in the journey that's not an issue but early out I couldn't believe how long it took to eat and all I could eat in 30 minutes!!!  Good for you for discovering what you did!!!
