Is this an ulcer?

Is it with everything you eat all the time?

Have you tried to decrease any fatty foods that you might be eating and see if you notice a difference? When I had my first round with my gall bladder and had sludge I realized when I switchd out higher fat foods my symptoms alleviated some.

Whereas with my ulcer, everything, even water, was causing me horrible pain.

I had sludge too. And I thought I was the only one. Anywho...my MIL has been sick for the last 5 weeks. Her ultrasound showed nothing. She finally went to a gastro(something or other) and he discovered it was her gallbladder after doing the hudascan thingy! Good luck. I hope you get better soon.

Sludge can be weird in many ways. It's not a "true' indication of the need to remove the gall bladder, if you have sludge generally you need to also be symptomatic to have it taken out. I had sludge several years prior and my symptoms went away for years. After the RNY the symptoms were pretty unbearable.

I didn't have a HIDA scan last time we just decided to remove it about 4 or so months POST rny.

A Hida or a cholescintigraphy  isn't too bad it's a nuclear imaging procedure you get injected with some chemical (can't remember which) and they judge the function or lack of function when it circulates through your system into your gall bladder.

Just so you know what it is:
HIDA Scan/Hepatobiliary Scan

nuclear medicine study called a Hepatobiliary Study.

It is a study of your gallbladder and the common bile duct which connects the

gallbladder to the liver and drains bile into the intestine. It is also called a

gallbladder scan.

The examination involves an injection of a small amount of radioactive material

into a vein in your arm. The material is then absorbed by your liver and excreted

in the bile. This permits visualization of the biliary tract and gallbladder.

The scans are taken with a gamma camera while you lie on a special cart. The

scans are taken every five minutes for 60 minutes. The doctor will then decide if

additional films are required. The length of the test is determined by how long it

takes the radioactive material to be absorbed by the hepatobiliary system. You

may have a second intravenous injection during the study, either morphine to

increase uptake into the gallbladder, or a synthetic form of a normal pancreatic

substance known as cholecystokinin (Uiuevac) in order to see how your

gallbladder contracts. This will be determined by the radiologist depending on

what your particular exam shows.

Sounds like GB. I never had stones - but mine was full of sludge and it was inflamed. The pain you are describing.  It may need to come out. Soon.

Yes, I agree with everyone else, it sounds like your gall bladder.  Mine decided to give up on the 2nd of July so I was in for my second abdominal surgery in a 7 week period.  I had a CT scan, Ultrasound, and HIDA Scan and NONE of them really showed anything but some wall thickening.  No stones, no sludge, nothing exciting.   When my surgeon went in, he found pus outside of the gall bladder as well as inside and had to drain off nearly a liter of bile just to start the surgery.  Mine was so infected that he had to extend the hole to even get it out of me after getting it off of my liver and such.  I was septic by the time I went to the hospital ER on 07/04 and I had not even had any symptoms until 2 days prior so don't sit on it.   It isn't a pleasant experience but I am now 2 weeks out today from surgery and it is much better.  I can still feel they were in there messing around but it is not pain, just a sensation really.   I hope it all goes well and you get it resolved quickly!!!

I was scoped today and yet they found nothing, even though the pain was so bad I almost couldnt sit up straight. Its not usually that bad but sometimes I think it wants me to know its still there lol.

She put me on 3 dulcolax twice a day for 2 weeks after i told her i had diarhea for 5 days and there cant possibly be anything left.

Right now im waiting for my surgeon to come off of vacation august 7th

I find that scary.  Do you recall if your white count was elevated at all?  That would be a sign in infection. Mine was sligthly elevated because of my situation.  If it was elevated I would scream until they do something. August 7th is quite a way out.
