My drain site is healing and ITCHING LIKE CRAZY!!! I kind of scratch around it, but I really just want to dig my fingernails  right in and scratch like there's no tomorrow!!! Of course I won't, but Dangit I want to!

It's closed and scabbing and ITCHING!!!!!!!! UGH!!

Anyone else suffering? What the heck can I do about it?!

Put some cortisone cream on it. It's ok to rub it in.

My drain was removed the day I was discharged from the hospital. Your RNY was done on 7/2 and today's the 27th, so you've had the drain in for 25 days. Why? Was your RNY open, instead of lap? I had a 2 week follow up with my surgeon. Did you? How long did your surgeon say you had to have the drain in? If you haven't seen your surgeon, I would call and tell them what's going on. Itching is a sign of healing, but with the drain incision being closed, I'd want my surgeons assurance that everything is ok.

The drain tube was removed a week after surgery. I never said the tube was still there! lol
The site is just healing and all itchy!! :)

They took mine out post  as well. One of my NPs said not to scratch with nails, but rather to rub with your palm or a soft cloth.  Luckily I'm not itchy yet...just 2 days out.  GOOD LUCK! :)
