Who Knew Water Would Be My Biggest Obstacle?

I am almost 5 years out and still cannot drink water comfortably. I have no problems staying hydrated with other liquids. Putting some type of additive in the water immediately changes the outcome for the better.

Temperature also makes a difference. I no longer enjoy cold drinks of any type. I have been known to stick a cold drink in the microwave to bring it to room temperature! However, lukewarm water 'tastes' terrible!

My personal drinks of choice are diet peach Snapple or hot/warm/room temperature tea, depending on the outdoor temperature. Caffeine has never been a problem for me, although I know it is against many surgeons' protocol and I am not endorsing it for anyone.

Even this far out, I can drink a 16 oz. bottle of Snapple in less than 30 minutes. The equivalent in water would take me about 2 hours to get it down. Plain water makes my pouch VERY uncomfortable.

I have lost 220 since my RNY, so the water issue did not impede my weight loss. I have ALWAYS and still do work to maintain high hydration levels on a daily basis.

Good luck to you!
