I'm just 6 days out from my surgery and I'm trying to get in all my proteing. The trouble is that I HATE the protein shakes. They're too thick and it just makes me feel ill even thinking about drinking one. I know when I get to the soft foods stage I won't have as much trouble. But right now while I'm still on full liquids I need an alternative.

Does anyone know anything about this product? Or have other suggestions?

are you making it with milk? you could try the nectar kind that are fruity. I always make mine with ice. 1 cup almond milk, 1 cup ice is the ratio i use for 1 scoop (and other flavoring). it dilutes it a bit and makes it taste good.

I used Proteinex for a while... the quantity you have to choke down to get the required amount of protein is minimal. It was great for me as I hated protein drinks.

How about Unjury's Chicken Soup? Warm and delicious broth.

Looks like most of the protein in that is gelatin, which is not a good source of protein.  So you would end up getting little protein from it.  If you want something similar to that, you could try Isopure or Cytomax.  You can get individual bottles of those at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe.

What brands of protein shakes have you tried?  Some brands are thicker than others.  You can add more liquid to make them thinner and if you mix them with water instead of milk, that makes them thinner.

I've tried IsoPure zero carb and Bariatric Advantage. I've made them both with milk and with water. Either way they still make me want to gag.

Well, I had to try a lot more than two brands to find something I liked.  You can get a bunch of samples at vitalady.com but I would also go to GNC or Vitamin Shoppe and pick up some Isopure ready to drink and Cytomax ready to drink, which are not thick at all.  You might also want to order a sample of the Unjury chicken soup protein at unjury.com.

I second staying away from this product and also the suggestion of Unjury's Chicken broth. Also, if thickness is bothering you but sweet flavors aren't, try Isopure RTDs as they have a lot of protein per serving. I just couldn't stand anything sweet postop so lived off of tea & Unjury Chicken broth until pureed.

Try some Syntrax Nectars.  I mix them with quite a bit of water.  My favorite "****tail" is 2 scoop lemonade + 1 scoop cherry.  Yum!

I went through the exact same thing 2 months ago. I got so sick of the protein shakes I cringed at the thought of drinking them. My NUT approved the Atkins shakes for me. They only have 15gm protein in them, but I got the coffee flavors and drank them over ice. They tasted just like starbucks drinks to me! I also bought unflavored protein powder and mixed it into my crystal light. Just be warned, it's not totally tasteless and it makes your crystal light milky. But I was able to choke it down that way. I understand where you are! I was just there myself. It does get better with foods! Good luck!
