 Hi Friends...

Im a week post op.  By my Dr's diet, Im on full liquids (to include milk, yogurt, protein shakes etc.) and Im going crazy... my body is craving something salty AND crunchy... or just a texture other than creamy or watery.

Tell me your secrets ... is there ANYTHING I can have that wont put me off my diet?

Thanks :-)

Really, full liquids means full liquids. BUT, sugar-free popsicles can help with that "I gotta chew something" crunch because they do melt to liquid at room temp.
Once you're on all foods (like cleared for veggies), roasted salted chickpeas or baked kale chips can satisfy the salty/crunch craving.

Well, it has to be a liquid at room temp.  So you could freeze it.  A sugar free popsicle or or you could make your own yogurt pops.  There's just not way to get a crunchy liquid, you know?

Now, you can have salty.  Go for some sort of soup.  Either cream soup with the chunks strained out or just broth.  You can buy any kind of soup in a can and strain it to get the broth, which is often more flavorful than just plain broth in a can.

Can I have like clam chowder without any of the chunks?  That sounds really good ... I didn't think about creamy soups!  My diet paper doesnt specify...

Well, usually cream soups are considered a full liquid, just no chunks.  Think something you could slurp up through a straw.  Not that you have to drink your clam choweder through a straw.  That sounds yucky to me for some reason.

Watch the fat in some cream soups, though.  Too much fat might send you running for the potty.

What about frozen green grapes?  Do you think I could have that?

Well, a grape is not a liquid at room temperature.  So I'm thinking not.

I would follow the surgical protocol on eating. Eating some foods "too soon" after surgery, can cause digestive issues where you'll feel like crap.  Dried peas, dry roasted edamame, dried peas, etc. are good high protein snacks with a little salt an mild to hard "crunch", but usually aren't tolerated well until you're 9-10 weeks post op.  DAVE
