I have a question about vitamins .. Last time I saw my NUT she had told me that I can wait a little before I start taking calcium .. She said because I was young and I wouldn't need it so soon .. I don't know of I agree with her so I have been taking about 600 mg a day instead of the full 1200 mg ?? What do u  guys think .. And how long did u guys take carafate for ?? I take Prilosec 40 mg 3 times a day and the carafate 4 times a day along with MVI ?? She also had told me that all I really need is a MVI until I see her again in 3 months ?? Lemme know whatcha think thanks !!

Well, the ASMBS says you need 1500 to 2000 mg calcium citrate, regardless of your age.  They say you can wait until four weeks after surgery to start taking it if you want, but you don't have to wait.

The ASMBS also says you need iron starting right after surgery and two multivitamins a day.  They say you can wait up to three months to start your B12 if you want, but I don't really know why you would want to wait that long.

Most post ops also need D3 so you should get your vitamin D level checked to see how much of that you need.

I did not take carafate at all post op.
