Do You Have a "Wonder Pouch" or "Super Sized" Pouch?

If so... what do you eat that fills you up?

NO offense and nothing personal... but this isn't for folks who fill up on 5 green beans and a shrimp.

I am almost a year out and I can eat some groceries.  If it isn't a dense, heavy protein I can eat even more.
I try to stick to something like this - but lately I still get hungry

B - either a shake or  P28 (protein bread), egg, 2 slices turkey bacon, 2 slices tomato
L -  either what my folks are having (pork, chicken, steak) or my frozen portions (about 1c) of taco casserole, nik's chicken pot pie,  2 of her meatballs on 1/2 deli flat etc and vegetables (go to veggies - steamed squash, green beans, cabbage, peppers)
D - usually one of my frozen portions with vegges;  sometimes breakfast

Snacks vary -  quest, shake, cottage cheese w/ fruit (berries, peach) or peanut butter, almonds, berries, cheese (laughing cow)

Before I go to the gym or to Tri training on the beach I have a WW Waffle with peanut butter and some sort of fruit (1/2 banana, several blueberries, couple of sliced strawberries).

Yes. I still get hungry.

Everyone is different.  I do know that we can stretch our pouches out which isn't a good thing!

Also, I call things like crackers and chips "slider foods".....I can eat quite an amount of them but they are carbs and empty calories so I try to stay away from those.

I regularly post my daily intakes on the Alabama board.  I am 4.5 yrs post-op.  I used to keep my daily intakes on my profile blog page and you are welcome to check that out.

As a rule of thumb, I try to get my protein in first as it fills me up so there is less room for other foods (ie calories, carbs, fat, etc.)

Thanks!
I try really hard to avoid the simple carbs.  The bread posted is it.... P28 is a dense protein bread (14g per slice, 130cals but I only eat 1).   The deli flats are WW kind of "buns" but really thin, I eat only the top or bottom. And the waffle is whole wheat.  I don't eat them everyday (well I eat the waffles 3-4 times a week - for breakfast on Sundays before Tr training,  lunch on Tues / Thur before the personal trainer / spin class, breakfast Friday before trainer).

I try to eat protein first but I think I just don't eat dense enough protein. Nik mentioned I may need to try something with a little more bang for the buck.

It's actually very hard to stretch your pouch out and very rarely does it happen. it does happen but it isn't common.

More likely is the stretching of your STOMA which can happen by eating/drinking together habitually.

But your pouch is SUPPOSED to increase its capacity over time. Where I could only eat a few tablespoons immediately post op, at six months I found I could eat about a cup of food and now I can eat a relatively normal sized meal.

What makes me really full?

Let's see.  Tonight for dinner I ate most of a burrito bowl at Chipotle.  It had a little bit of brown rice, black beans, onions and peppers, salsa and cheese.  I was full for about four hours after that.

Roasted chickpeas are one of my favorite snacks.  I can eat about one cup of them and then I am very full.

I can eat an entire cheese sandwich, which two thin slices of bread and two slices of cheese.

How often are you having snacks?  maybe you need to eat more frequently.

That dinner DOES sound great!!  I don't know anything about cooking or food combos... I always mean to write down stuff like this, but I forget.  Thus making a thread so I can follow it through my posts!

In general, my schedule is like this:

Up between 9-930 am and have breakfast (usually a shake) within 30 mins. Some times I will have actual food, but not generally.

  Lunch is around 12-1230.
Snack around 4pm, possibly another around 6
  Dinner falls about 830pm
   Snack around 10-11pm
   Snack at home after midnight
   Bed around 2-3am.

Sundays I have to be at the beach for Tri training by 630, so I have a shake when I get up around 5, and then my waffle breakfast just before I get to the training site.
Tuesdays I work out at 1 with the personal trainer, so I have the waffle etc for lunch and sometimes will have a snack right after (maybe piece of P28 bread with peanut butter)

 Thursday same as Tuesday

Friday I workout at 830am and am on the road until after 12-1.

One thing.... these last couple of weeks I have not been getting much sleep at all because of mandatory overtime at work, helping my bedridden mom, exercise, regular work shifts and my "hobby farm".  When I get tired I seem to get hungrier / cravings

I don't know it this helps but.........

I totally don't get the people in my support group when they say they get full after eating a 1/2 cup of food or so.  I am 91/2 months out and can pack it a way if I let myself do so.  I have been struggling with hunger since 4 1/2 months out.  I eat tons of veggies that seems to help feel me up and trust me it is much more than 5 beans.

My meals are

breakfast--------protein drink (200 cal)

Lunch -------3 oz of meat, 1 oz of cheese, veggies and olive oil (300 CAL)

snack.............1 cup of cottage cheese or yogart with 1/2 cup of blueberries( 200 cal)

dinner.  4oz of meat.  1 cup of veggies, sometime crackers or a healthy cookie. (300 to 400 cal)

I don't work out as much as you do so I cant eat any more than this or I will gain weight.

I could probably eat 2 x this menu.

I am 5"7' and current weight is 158 (goal 146)

 Thanks!
I really have to work on the mental stuff. I am in counseling but I have to convince my counselor to be stricter / less encouraging! He is awesome, but I need someone to get in my face, not tell me this is a learning process and point out what I am doing right.

I just need to find out what is healthy eating for me at my activity level.  Sometimes I think I workout really hard and for good periods of time, but when someone mentions increasing my calories or something, I feel like I don't do enough to justify that and I will just be setting myself up to fail.
It is going to come down to me just forcing myself to plan more food /c alories, because at night when I have fought it all day long I give in and then I get CRAZY eating.  Maybe if I eat more food / calories throughout the day that wouldn't happen and I could have more control.

I dont' know.  Discouraged and frustrated.
