Good experiences???
No one can tell you how your surgery will be, and though you don't have control over some of the things that may or may not happen - you can control your reaction to them.
Try to remember that you will get through this... rely on your supports, your doctors, nuts, the people here, family and friends, your higher power and whatever/whomever else that falls into that category.
This is not the time to be a tough-gal... reach out when you need to.
And remember - it gets better...
All the worrying in the world will not prevent problems... and just think of how much energy you would have wasted it nothing "bad" happens.
So I send my best... hope you'll let us know how it went, and before you know it you'll be posting support to others getting ready for their big day

I had no problems. can home slept in bed right away...only took pain meds for 1 day, then only at night to make sure id sleep for like 3 days. No real pain at all felt like mild cramps.
I felt amazing for having major surgery.
The hard part for me has been eating im never hungry so i havent been eating, talked to nurse today they said i need to really start my 3 meals a day. and my drinking I need to get it up not getting in all my fluids... other than that its been real good!!

It was easy peasy lemon breezy. I came home and slept. I had minimal pain and was back to my normal routine in a couple of days. I tired more easily for a couple of weeks, but it was nothing drastic.
One thing to note: If you have friends and/or family who tell you to call if you need them, call if you need them. Most folks sincerely want to help and will be happy to if they made the offer.

I did well. Didn't have any complications and no drains. Went back to work after 3 weeks.....to a VERY physical job and was ok.
Not going to lie to you, for about 3-4 days after surgery I felt like I had been hit by a big semi truck! But I was up walking the next morning......and the morphine pump was my best friend the 1st night.
Good luck......You will do great!

Initial recovery can vary. Most do well. But some have issues drinking enough water, feel fatigued a lot, have trouble eating, diarrhea or constipation, pain issues, etc. Personally I would have not had surgery if I was starting school (work or attending for a degree) AND moving. that's a lot on your plate. You need to watch your water intake, or you will end up back in the hospital for dehydration. Good luck. DAVE

Dave- I know.. you mentioned before that you wouldn't have done it this way. But like I said, I had no choice. I just got scheduled last Monday and it was the only available date for me. So it is what it is. But I asked for encouragement, not a reminder abt what I shouldn't be doing. It'll work out.
Thank you everyone for the words of advice. I'm feeling better and more confident!

I am close to 3 months out and I had no issues whatsoever....no nausea or vomiting....I have been nauceous on a couple occaisions but I did it to myself. Full fat mayo will get me every time so no more tuna salad or store bought chicken salad for me. I have a long way to go but you have to know this is what is right for you and your willing to do what it takes. For me, this was my last hope...rock bottom chicka....so when it was done...I felt hope for the first time in a very long time. I've never had the blues like some have....I did get a little nostaglia when my Mom ordered pizza for the kids....but I knew better. I know this is good for me and I am going to win MY life back. Think positive and do as the doctor tells you and you'll be fine!! ((((Hugs))) Sherry
Textbook here too. Didn't use any pain meds. No complications. Minor challenges along the way adjusting to liquids...I remember craving something to CHEW after a few days, but nothing bad or scary at all :) Was driving within about 5 days, doing laudry within a week, back to work after two weeks. I am now almost 6 months out and continue to progress smoothly.
All the best tomorrow and good luck with your new life :)
