Help...I can't seem to feel full anymore

Hope all are having a good summer.  Mine has been wonderful but I am realizing that I am never feeling full anymore.  Even when I restrict myself with my plate of food, I start eating again as soon as possibly 30 minutes later and continue to eat untl I can go to bed and hope to start over again the next day.  So I guess my guestion is - Do you think my stomach (pouch)  has stretched and will I ever get back to eating properly again.
P.S.  I am unfortunately one of those people that can eat anything and everything without having any dumping.
Also should I be looking into the 5 day pouch test.

Thanks all.

Hi Finally. What are you eating and when? Are simple white carbs creeping in? Carb creep makes me hungrier than usual. Are you eating and drinking at the same time?

As far as your pouch being stretched, I don't think it's likely. Is it possible you are battling head hunger?  I wonder because you say " I start eating again as soon as possible 30 minutes later...". That sounds like head hunger more than physical hunger.

Actually you might be on to something with the CARBS.  I have been eating alot more of them the last 4-5 months.  I hate eating them as I am sure they actually make me feel lazy.
I am terribly concerned about my pouch.  I am drinking the same amount as before although my coffee intake is more.
Head hunger is a horrid thing isn't it.
Thanks for replying.

My advice would be to plan your food for the day - 3 meals and 2-3 snacks - dense protein and stick to that for a couple of days.   Try to make carbs dairy, veggies and wholegrains only - no white or processed carbs.   Don't drink any calories and don't drink with meals or for 30--60 minutes afterwards!

I think if you stick with dense protein (chicken, beef, pork, turkey) first meals and snacks, you'll find you feel less hungry - at 8 years out I can't graze if I stick to this plan ...

Are you really 8 years out...that is amazing.  Thanks so much for replying.  I am sitting here watching Dr. Oz  talk about gastric bypass and I know I did the right thing but know I have messed up

I wonder why I can physically eat this stuff.  Why am I not in any pain eating so much?  I can't figure that out.

May I ask if you have kept the weight off and do you excercise.
Thanks

I have kept my weight off for 8 years and yes, I do exercise - I do something EVERY day, even if it's just walk the dog for an hour.

I can physically eat a ton of crap (crackers, chips etc) but I don't - I have type II diabetes and so keep my carbs restricted to the dairy, veggies and whole grains 99% of the time - at this point I really don't crave crackers or chips anymore ...   the only thing I miss is fruit and I limit that to 2 or 3 times a week because it plays havoc with my blood sugar!   I try to eat as "cleanly" as possible ie, limit my processed food - meat and vegetables with some flavour thrown in - you don't have to be a good cook and once you get rid of all the artificial stuff - you'll be amazed at how good you feel!!!!

I'm sure you did the right thing getting RNY and I'll bet you haven't messed anything up - you've just fallen off the wagon a bit!   All you need to do is sign up for MyFitnessPal, log everything that passes your lips, and aim to stick to a planned menu 85-90% of the time!   I'll bet you'll feel better in just a few days back on plan!!!!

Stick around here and maybe post in the daily "What are you eating?" post.

What Kim said.
I can eat 3-4 oz of beef and a few bites of veggies and be stuffed for 3 hrs. Or I can eat some carbs with a slice of cheese, and some veggies and be hungry in 1 hr or less
Crackers or chips with dip - I can eat and eat and eat-  never full.
Same with some soups, even ground meats - or meats that have been cooked long time in gravy, or stew, chilies, etc.
Dense - drier proteins, with some raw veggies, eating very slow.  Chew well. Eat enough to be full, but not too much to get "stuffed".

No drinking with meals.

If you do a really low carbs - eating every 2 -3 hrs some dense proteins and veggies - you will find out that you will get full and stay full.

Thanks, I think I am getting excited about getting back on the horse.
I eat cheese and crackers alot so that will have to go.

What did you mean about some soups, even ground meats??? Are you saying this is NOT good for you.  I thought Chili was good for you.

Thanks

There are sliders - meaning they go in and out the pouch quicker than more drier meats - like roast, or grilled.

I do eat the soups - but only on days when I need to eat sliders (like irritated pouch - or on small pouch days - when I get full after a few bites - yes - still have those days)

But I also have days that it feels that I can eat and eat and eat - days like that - I try to make sure I pick some very dense proteins and raw dense veggies (i.e. roasted cauliflower, or raw zucchini - cut or sliced and eaten raw.  But cucumbers or tomatoes - have more water - so I will eat them in moderation and not on days that the pouch seams "bottomless". )

Think about it that way: the more moist the food is - the faster it can leave the pouch making you hungry faster.
So picking food that is less moist - and that it will take more time to chew and will be more dense - will keep you fuller longer and you would also need less of that food to feel full.

I think the denser the protien, the longer you stay full. I can eat 1/2 cup a chili, no problem. I know I could probably eat more than that if I tried. I dont of course. I measure and eat only what Im supposed to. But if I eat something denser, like steak, usually 2 oz and I'm full for 5 hours or more. So I would just stick to dense protien rather than cheese or chili.
