I am wondering if you went on the same cruise we did in June on carnival! I was going to go on the catamaran snorkel but I knew with my fat ass and my bad leg I wouldn't be able to get up that ladder and back in the boat. We were supposed to go to blue lagoon island in the Bahamas but we got rained out :(

We had fun on our cruise but I will never go on another one fat, it's not as fun!

I am sorry about the bad stuff but brighter days are ahead!!!!

I'm so sorry that your vacation had so many bad moments for you. From now on though, every vacation will NOT have those moments and I'm sure you will have a blast.

Sherry:

I feel your pain.  I can count on both hands as well as my feet the number of embarrassing fat girl moments that I've had over the years while on vacation.  Last year was my official last one as an obese gal.  I'm heading to Ireland at the end of March and I can't wait to go a lot smaller than I ever have on an airlplane!  It will get better!

Ooooo Jennifer....I want to go to Ireland soooo bad! That is my dream vacation and my husband and I said we'd go on our 10th anniversary.  Well, Oct is our 10th anni and it looks like surgery may be sometime mid Sept.  So, no Ireland for us this year!  But that's ok...we'll get there!  I hope you have a wonderful time.

You have my sympathy. I know how it feels to be " the fattest chick". No more. You'll be there next vacation & you'll be that skinny chick.
The comedian ought to be ashamed, if he was telling jokes about any other handicap.... I can't stomach jokes about people's weaknesses/ handicaps. Larry the cable guy does it & I won't listen to him anymore. Remember you are beautifully created,

Seems like you're a bit hard on yourself (society is hard on you, too,  but that is a given...) with the "fat girl down" comment.

You're so much more than just your body.

Also, for a "comedian" to resort to "fat girl jokes" is SO telling of how he or she lacks any real talent.

Look at it this way - you had the guts to get into a bathing suit and swim, when you knew you were going to be judged.  I couldn't do it.  I'm down 110 pounds and I still refuse to expose my upper arms and my thighs.  I wish I had your courage.

Life will change, it will get better.  RnY was among the best decisions I've ever made for myself, and I think that, after the first few months post-op, you will feel the same way.

Luckily, it's easy to forget the day to day humiitaion of being obese.
Good luck with your surgery, follow all the rules, transform your eating habits and you'll be fine, and from your adventurous spirit, it sounds as though you will thrive after you've lost some weight.

You know what-- I give you a lot of credit for even going on a vacation that involved getting in the water, going to a water park ect--at my size I wouldn't consider doing something like that--I haven't had a bathing suit on for 40 years, so to hear of "a women of size" having enough confidence in herself to  do that to me is very --I don't know--liberating? I'm just sorry you had so many bad experiences. Your next vacation will be so much better--I'm pre-surgery too  and who knows maybe next year will see me in a bathing suit at a water park !! Hope your knees are better.
