How many pounds equals a clothes size for you?
I am less than two weeks post op, but began my weight loss journey in January when my husband and I made some major lifestyle changes as I made decisions about to decide to have surgery. I lost 18 pounds before even starting the pre op liquid diet and by the day of surgery I was down 20lbs. TOday I am down another 6lbs, so I am down 26lbs since January and yet, I still fit in all the cloethes I worse before. THey are a touch roomier and I feel better in them, but its not like I've dropped out of that size or anything.
So I am wondering how many pounds = a clothes size for you???? I realize this must differ for everyone. I'm only 5 foot 1, so I imagine that has something to do with it. I was really hoping to go back to work in a size smaller, but I'm thinking I have a little longer to go.

The higher the size, the longer it took me to get out of it. When I had surgery, I was packed into a 24/26 or 3XL. When I went back to work three weeks and 30lbs lighter, I was still wearing the same clothes. More comfortably, but the same stuff. I had to drop 40lbs for that stuff to be too baggy.
Now, I usually have to lose 10-15 before I drop a size. Also important to note is that I will get things a little snug--not tight--and wear them until they are rather loose.

Clothing sizes aren't consistent enough for me to guage how many pounds it takes to change.
I wear regular jeans in a 10, skinny jeans in a 12.
Juniors tops in a large, and regular ladies' tops in a medium.
But when my sizes change, it happens pretty gradually. It's usually a surprise when I pull on a piece of clothing and it no longer fits correctly. At first, when I was freshly post-op for the first couple months, the sizes took forever to change. Larger sizes have much more forgiveness and take longer to grow out of. However, once I hit 18, it started to drop a lot faster.

I'm down 65 lbs from my highest and am still wearing most of the same clothes. There are a few clothes that I'm able to wear comfortably that were tight before, but I'm still basically in the same size. I also assumed that by now I'd be several sizes smaller. In fact, I got rid of most of my clothes in a yard sale right after surgery and had to take some back so that I'd have clothes to wear!
When I was a 22/24 it took about thirty pounds before I needed new stuff... Now about every 8 pounds I need to shop. Sometimes just tops and more commonly it's the bottoms. I have no backside left and my thighs fit into my daughters size 1 shorts, but, just my thighs lol... Those little suckers aren't gonna zip in this lifetime lol.
I am 7 weeks post op. I have lost a total of 65 pounds. I was fitting into a size 26 quite snugly before the surgery. Now I am in a 24 and I have room. I cannot get into a 22 yet. I still wear the same 2x shirts. I think it took 50 pounds before I moved from the 26 to the 24.
When we lose weight, we generally lose it all over, not just in one spot, such as the stomach, so clothing sizes will not change as fast as we would like them to. If someone is lucky and they lose weight in the stomach and thighs, they will drop pant sizes faster. For me, I am losing in my face and arms, a little in my stomach, an a little in my butt.

I had to lose 50 pounds... yes, 50... before I lost a single size when I was 330 pounds... and then 30 or so more before I losta full second size. It was depressing as hell! Now, however, less than pounds can be the difference.

I tend to wear slacks that have some stretch to them. They last much longer (as far as fit goes). When you wash them, they shrink back. So if you need them to stretch less (as with weight loss), they will - because they don't have to stretch so much.
