I tend to ignore the bible verse posts. I'm not into that sort of thing, particularly somewhere like OH. But I just ignore. I do wonder - is there a message board on OH specifically for faith in relation to the journey? I've never looked. If there isn't maybe there should be, and that kind of stuff could go there.
Regardless, I'll just continue to ignore.

For the same reason nobody posts to the Grads board. And the same reason nobody uses Google+.
Cuz everyone is HERE. LOL.

For some, the Bible references a higher power that is essential to their recovery. My own path is much more secular, although I dislike referring to myself as an atheist. I do think that there is a place for biblical study on a WlS forum, even though it is not my choice to practice that way.
Similarly, there is room for secular studies here. I'm not sure whether there is a good argument for the promotion of one approach over another, however.

Well said!
I respect the non-religious quotes that are posted here and learn from them. I even managed to learn SOMETHING from this one that I think will help me in my day-to-day life. It's all a part of learning. And to me this is a learning process much more so than simply a weight loss process.
Thanks for the good points.

I heartily agree with everything you've said in this thread. My faith has also played a big part in my WLS journey, and is therefore quite relevant to me. I understand that it will not be to everyone, and they have the right to skip those posts, just like I skip posts that are clearly not important/relevant to me. For example, I am disabled, and unable to do some things - so I don't read posts about zumba, yoga. marathons, etc - I don't get offended that they are there - I just don't read them.
...and although I'm not an atheist, I opened this post, hoping I could take something from it (and because, like you, I love me some Melting Mama!) I'm so pleased to see that everyone (with one possible exception) has been grateful that Beth shared, and perhaps taken something useful from the discourse.
I love all you guys - and so proud to be part of such a diverse group!
