Daily Atheist Quote

Oh dear, I hadn't witnessed any hatefulness like that on here and hope that I don't. That's awful. I don't understand why people are so concerned about trampling the civil rights of others. Others having the right to marry doesn't affect social conservatives in a negative way. From a purely practical standpoint, it would probably do wonders for boosting bakery, flower, and catering businesses who would have more weddings to work on! Not to mention bringing money into the state through marriage license fees...etc. Love is love, plain and simple.

I don't intrude on the right of religious individuals to celebrate their faith and conversely, I think the spirituality and awe I find in science and nature deserve the same respect. It's possible to coexist without thinking the same way (unless you are the US Congress). I can look at faith as a beautiful, uplifting thing that brings goodness to someone's life and still be okay with the idea that it's not for me.

Blaming war on atheists is not only inaccurate, but offensive. I work in an early modern library and I can tell you that religious wars have existed throughout history on an almost cyclical basis. Does that mean religious people are evil, violent groups? Absolutely not. There is a difference between believing strongly in one's faith and forcing it on others against their will. Shaming or belittling an atheist is just as bad as shaming a Christian, Jew, Muslim, Mormon, Hindu, Buddhist...etc.

Call me a hippie (I do drive a bright yellow VW beetle with flowers on the dashboard), but I don't think that "live and let live" is such a stretch.

Well we have spent way to much time on this subject.  So let's all agree to disagree on this particular subject.   debbie

I'm a Christian and I don't open the religious post either.  My beliefs are my beliefs I don't need to quantify or qualify them to anyone else.   It's an individual thing.  I agree that totally religious based don't belong on a WLS forum.

Only reason I opened this one is because of the number of responses; wanted to see who/if anyone got their panties all bunched up.

I do pray for those that ask for prayers, swing chickens or send good thoughts to those that don't.

Seems to me everyone's been pretty darn civilized in this whole discussion, and I think that's way cool.
