Nik-

You have a gift with words my friend.

You are awesome!

Hugs to you

You'd prefer to add drama to a quote - because any Agnostic/Atheistic ideas WILL cause drama here - rather than allow it to just stew in each person's brain juices?

Nah.

God is not part of my journey to surgiversaryland and onederwomanhoods.

 Ok, whatever. I'll drop it.

I simply asked what this quote means. I did not ask for drama. I don't understand the quote and insofar as hearing what it means in the context of other people's brains I thought I could leave this thread a bit more educated than I came in.

I understand now that this is not welcome. No drama needed. No response needed. I can probably Google it. But for what it's worth, I thought asking questions and being open to answers is the way to understanding. Am I wrong there?

See, now I am sucked into answering it - which is only going to serve to **** someone off.

The Bible was written thousands of years ago, and I see it as a work of fiction.   Many of the verses I see posted only further PUSH people into non-believing.  Particularly lately -- as people use the Bible as a weapon.
Properly read, the Bible is the most potent force for atheism ever conceived.

Thank you. I didn't get all that from the quote. I understand better.

I have no rebuttal. I believe you and anyone else has the right to believe in what you want. But now....my friend...I understand you a little bit better. And what a gift that is!

I just scrolled back to the latest Bible verse post.

That poster doesn't add any personal context to the copy/paste.

You did, however.

There is a reflection below the quote from the place where he got it from. I didn't say HE contextualized it. Just that there was context. About the cupbearer and taking action when people are in need instead of simply saying "glad that's not me!" That whole paragraph. And I even posted that had that paragraph not been there I likely would not have understood that verse.

I just seek to understand. Not judge. Actually, the bible says "Judge lest ye BE judged." Most Christians choose to ignore those words. I live by them.

YOU do.

Many don't.

Many use the Bible as a weapon.

I never saw you do such a thing.

Nah. To me it's very personal. I'm probably the least "traditionally evangelical" Christian you will ever meet.

The bible says let your light shine so that you can be a testament to the Lord. That's more the approach I take. I want someone to look at me and go "Wellll...if that girl is a Christian they can't ALL be bad..."

This may be delusional but that is my hope.

 ^ True.

They're NOT all bad.  It's those who abuse the privilege and make "you" look bad.  You never have.
