Omg I am so glad you posted this, I am having the period from hell!! I haven't had a period like this in a long long time!

Talk to your Gyn about it.
Extra estrogen is stored in fat, and perhaps as you are breaking down and getting rid of the fat, your hormone levels are not at their usual. The uterus is very responsive to levels of certain female hormones, and it may be just be responding to that. It could level out, or it could continue to be a problem.
In any event, if you discuss it with your gyn, you can make sure you aren't iron deficient/anemic from all the blood loss. Additionally, they can look at the uterine lining and make sure you don't have fibroids, or other problems.
