OT-Diva Cup

So I've been researching this Diva cup for about 2 weeks now & think I'm sold on buying one & giving it a whirl. If it works out well for me then I will probably buy one for my daughter as well. We talked about it & she wants me to try it out first to see what I think before getting her one. Those of you who do use the Diva cup, I know it says it can be worn for 12 hours, but that seems kinda a long time. How long do you usually wear them before dumping them out? I have a heavy period & am worried that I will need to change it often. What are your experiences with it & are there any out there that didn't have a good experience with the Diva cup? Like I posted in an earlier post I go through 30-40 tampons a month & clot a lot so I'm willing to try just about anything at this point. Just would like to know others experiences with it.

Ok I use one and it's awesome. I probably dump it 3 times a day, once in morning, once after work and once before bed. I never have trouble with it leaking. Once you use it you'll be able to determine if you should dump it more or less often, it depends on your flow.

I've been using the cup for like 3 years and I love it! It is perfect for me, never had an issue. I tell every woman to make the switch you'll love it.

Thanks! I think I will enjoy it much better as well. How heavy is your flow usually? If you don't mind me asking.

i loved mine. the first few times i wore it, i also wore a pad at night, but never needed it. i emptied in the morning, once during the day, and before bed.

BUT - they say not to wear it if you have an IUD. i chose to ignore that and actually ripped my IUD out of me a few years ago. if the vacuum seal isn't broken all the way it will literally suck it out. very painful.

since i cannot convince my DH to get the snip, and I don't do hormone BC, i went back with the paraguard and no more divacup for me for now. but i highly recommend them.

eta: my flow is pretty heavy, not usual for me to go through 5-6 super tampons a day.

Ouch! Thank goodness my husband is fixed. Lol Sounds like your flow was similar to mine before surgery, now I'm using the super plus tampons & changing about 7-8 times a day & wearing a pad because it would leak through most the time. 7 day period with 4 heavy days & 3 lighter days. I'm hoping the diva cup will be a godsend to me. *crossing my fingers*

You don't have to really clean it during the day just dump it out. If I feel like I want to wa**** during the day I use a handicapped stall. It's never been too much of a problem. I believe they recommend thoroughly washing daily and after each period boiling it for 20 minutes.

you just dump it and if you really want to you can wipe it with toilet paper, but not really necessary.  it holds a lot, and people don't actually bleed as much volumn as they think. so it doesn't have to be emptied a lot.
