Suggestions for months 3-6

Finally had my 3 month today so I'm about 3.2 months out....give or take...LOL  According to the doctor every thing looked good but my protein and good cholestrol....the protein was a little low and increased exercise to increase the good cholestrol.  I love my doctor because he saved my life!! I wanted to tell him I walked on the beach for the first time in probably 3 years without feeling like I was going to topple over.  He was okay about my loss....which I didn't know, he expected 30%...I was at 28% so I missed it by a little.  So, he tells me that the next 3 months will define my weight loss...and how successful I am at it.    Pretty much everyone loses the first 3 months without doing much but now is when I need to put in gear is how I felt he was telling me.  I know what he's saying and I will do whatever is needed.  Personal changes going on right now in my life so stress has been a MAJOR factor with no job and now probably no health insurance unless I find a job ASAP.  It's alot.  I  know the exercise will help immensely.

So, I ask all of you....what did you do month's 3-6?  I lost a total of 54 pounds since surgery.  Increase exercise definitely, track and measure.

Just was hoping for some words of wisdom or insight!  I want to make the best of it and do everything I can do make that goal!  If I do, I have a great christmas present coming...fitting back into all my clothes hanging in my closet from my last weight loss attempt.  JEANS!  CUTE JACKETS!  SUITS!   Ok, I'm a clothes *****and the nurse asked me what I was going to do when that pretty dress didn't fit anymore...and I absolutely had no clue what to tell her.....LOL  Can't imagine getting rid of it...but I hope to never wear it again once it's gets so big!

Thanks ya'll!!

28% instead of 30% is no big deal.  You're doing just fine.  Try not to feel a lot of pressure in the next three months.  Yeah, they are important months.  But I don't think they define your weight loss or how successful you are at it.  This is a lifetime journey, really.  What you do in any three month period is important, but it's not going to make or break you.

Just stick to your plan.  Do it one day at a time, one food choice at a time.

Exercise will help with the stress, as well as the good cholesterol and the weight loss.

Celebrate those victories, like being able to walk on the beach.  Those are the important things in life.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

Thanks Kelly! I thought so too...ofcourse we'd all like to lose it fast as a greyhound but for me it's truly teaching me how I need to live the rest of my life.  I'm not as mobile as some folks so working up my stamina and distances will get me where I need to be.

Congratulations on your loss so far.  I'm new to this site...and haven't had my surgery yet.  I have just completed all of the stuff needed, so we are submitting to the insurance company now...fingers crossed :)...
So I don't have any words of wisdom for months 3-6.... But sounds like you are on the right track.  Saw your surgeon was Dr. Hart...I am with Dr. Johnson...and I am in Jasper, GA...
Just wanted to say, 'best of luck to you' and maybe I'll run into you sometime....

Thank you!  You are in great hands!!  When I originally researched this in 2002, Dr. Hart was in the office by himself.  I got pregnant in the process so I had my son and was the best decision of my life.  It just took me 9 years to get to the point of making up my mind this was my only option.  I had lost weight before but gained it all back in the last 3 years and was as big as the day I had him.  Except it wasn't a bundle of joy like he was!!  :)

Good Luck to you as well! You've made a great decision and I know that you'll be happy.  I haven't met Dr. Johnson but from what I hear and see on the website, he's pretty easy on the eyes!!

Keep me posted and if you have any questions, just give me a holler! I live down in Warner Robins, GA.

Maybe so! I have my next appt in early Dec!

Take Care!!

For my 3 to 6 months, I felt like I could eat a lot more, not more as in amount at a meal, but more variety which is where my own will power had to kick in, to make sure I was making healthy meals and sticking to my plan. My weight loss really slowed down in these months as well, which at fist frustrated me, but now I really do understand it isn't a race! At 5 month out I joined a kick boxing class, and overall feel so much stronger and energetic to be more active every day. Congrats on getting thru the fist 3 months, IMO those were the hardest.

When you say 30%, do you mean 30% of your total weight, or 30% of your excess weight?
