Does your protein shakes make you feel full for a long time?

Since I've started supplementing one meal a day with a protein shake. I've noticed it makes me feel full for hours. Wonder if its because the longer those BA protein shakes sit the thicker they get. I never get that full feeling for hours unless I've eaten really dense protein. Just curious if anyone else has noticed the same thing.

Yeah, yeah, that's the beauty of eating protein, it takes longer to digest. Carbs (crackers, past etc...) fly through your system making you hungry again soon, but protein lasts.

They generally cleanse my bowels. Sorry can't think of a nicer way to say that.

They do that to me sometimes too. Milk is not my friend.

They keep me full for 2-3 hours. But, I am pre-op. They might last longer post-op.

Actually, they will likely keep you full for a much SHORTER period of time after surgery because the liquid will empty out of the pouch MUCH more quickly than it exits out of your stomach.

I am pre-op myself but the protein shakes do last me for many hours.  Every morning around 7 AM I have 10 oz of 1% milk and a scope with 30 grams of whey protein isolate.  I go to work and hit the gym there first thing a work out between 40 - 90 minutes.   I eat lunch around noon. The protein shake really sustains me. I was really shocked because I wasn't expecting it.

Yeah I know. I had stopped using protein shakes for a long time but I switched up shifts at work & now I'm having to supplement. Protein shake first thing in the morning & I'm not feeling like eating again till I get home 8 hours later. I still make myself eat every 2 hours tho when I have my breaks otherwise I wouldn't get all my protein in. Just seems like an awful long time to be full off a shake. Kinda weird I guess.

They do NOT keep me full at all. I could drink a shake and then eat a regular meal. UGH. I've stopped the shakes alltogether, as I'm not far enough out of surgery (6 weeks) to feel hungry so fast. A protein bar does much better at keeping me full longer.
