I got home this afternoon from surgery on Monday (the 17th).  All I can say is OUCH, OUCH, OUCH.

Mentally, I guess I knew it was going to hurt.  But physically I had NO idea it was going to be this miserable.

It gets better. Just give it time. When the scale starts moving you will be thrilled.

The pain goes away. I swear when I woke up out of surgery I thought I was going to die it hurt so bad but a week later I was going to school and getting things done no problem. Hang in there! The pain of surgery is way less than the pain of being MO.

Totally with you.

The pain from surgery will go away. But you will start getting back to normal life and start losing real soon and you'll love it.

If I was told I had to do my surgery over again (assuming insurance covered it!) every 10 years, I'd still go through it again and again.

ok, I will have to trust you on this.... because as of right now it's just no fun.

Even "eating" a teaspoon of plain, nonfat yogurt is a struggle.

Did your surgeon send you home with pain meds? If so, take them as scheduled to stay on top of your pain. I ended up being converted to open so the pain register was a little higher, possibly, and lasted a bit longer than normal, but after a week or so of keeping up with the liquid Percocet they sent me home on, I was able to transition to Tylenol. It gets better, and pretty quickly, too.

I may not be a surgeon buddy of either of you, but I was raised in St. Petersburg. Spent 35 years there. I grew up in Meadowlawn. Where are you all located? Which hospital did you have your surgery at? I would guess Bayfront.
