OT - got that callous removed from my foot today

I don't know if people remember me asking about the callous-thing on my foot a while back, but I finally went to the podiatrist today.  He said it was some kind of callous.  I forget the word exactly, something really long and hard to pronounce.  He said some people call them corns, which I've heard of before.

He scraped it off with this thing that kind of looked like a dental pick.  It didn't hurt at all.  He said it was all dead skin so that's why I could barely even feel it.  Took about two minutes.

My foot feels much better now.  That's the good news.  The bad news is that he said it may come back.  Apparently I have a bone on that foot that kind of sticks out a little bit and puts extra pressure on that spot on my foot.

But at least it was quick and easy to take care of today.

That's exactly what mine felt like, like I was walking on a small rock in my shoe.  It feels great now, though.

If it starts up again at all , get to the doc FAST because it grows bigger the more that has to be cut out and that looked worse than I thought it would, I was surprised

I have two on my left foot that I have had for several years. The Dr. has removed them and I've had surgery on the bigger one on the side of my foot by my little toe but it comes back :(   The other one is between my foot and big toe. Right in the joint so it sticks out past my foot and hurts to walk on.

I won't do the surgery a 3rd time as it was very painful recovery and had to wear a wonky shoe and slipper  for almost 6 months.  I keep hoping that it will get better as I lose the weight and won't have so much weight on my feet.  I have finally gotten a very sharp knife just for this problem  and I cut it off myself very carefully each month. It has like a core to it and when I pop that out with the knife I end up with a nice size hole in my foot but the relief of it being goneis awesome!!! Until it grows back the next month.

I hope yours is easier than mine.

Wow, that's terrible that it came back after you had surgery!  It sounds exactly like what I had, it has a core to it and the doctor popped it right out and I was thinking I probably could have done that myself.  The relief was instant.  I've been enjoying walking around all evening, it feels so good.
