Very Easy 3 Bean "Chili"

I'm not much of a cook and when I do cook I like it very simple.  Too many ingredients complicate things for me.  I decided to make this because I had a lot of beans leftover.  I used dried beans that I cooked but you can use canned, too.  I think I used 8 cups of beans total but I made a large batch so I could freeze it for lunches.  If freezes great and also makes great leftovers.  If you don't want that much you could always halve the recipe.
I also used Rotel's because they were on sale but their cans are very little.  You could probably get away with 3 cans of regular diced tomatoes and chili or even use a can or two of regular diced tomatoes if you don't want so much heat.  I drained about half the liquid out of the tomatoes because otherwise it gets too soupy.  Next time I will drain even more so it will be thicker.
This is very high in protein which is why I made it.  You could use whatever beans you like and you could use ground turkey if you prefer.  And of course you can adjust the spices to taste or add different ones if you like.  I have made it with chopped onions and minced garlic but the powders are fine, too.

Very Easy 3 Bean "Chili"   3 lbs hamburger 2 1/2 cups each kidney, garbanzo, black beans (about 8 cups total, you can use canned, too and whatever kind of beans you like) 4 cans Rotel's diced tomatoes and chili 1 tablespoon chili powder 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
1/2 tablespoon garlic powder 1 tablespoon cocoa powder salt & pepper to taste   Brown hamburger and drain.  Add beans and diced tomatoes and the rest of the ingredients and heat to boiling and turn down and simmer covered for at least an hour.  It should have plenty of liquid but if not add some water.  I have also made this with chopped onion and minced garlic but it is fine with just the garlic and onion powders.  You can cook this as long as you want to blend the flavors and it freezes very well.
I'm not really sure how many servings this makes.  It depends on what you call a serving.  You could also make this in a crock pot and just let it simmer on low all day.  It is pretty much cooked before you simmer it, the simmering is just to blend the flavors together.

Cocoa powder is an interesting choice. That sounds great.
We have been trying to cook more in the crock pot. Had some good sqaush the other day.

I must admit that I am not at all flexible with my chili recpie. It has be William's chili mix. You can't get in seattle so I have friends that keep me in stock.

Gotta love easy recipes. I do a lot of soups and freeze 1 1/2 cup containers to, for easy meals and I know exactly what is in them! Of course I make many varieties of meals ready to go from the freezer to pan and in the oven. Single servings measured for me and ones for my husband. He likes it, as the flavors are great, had time to blend.

Since having surgery I love the challenge of healthy foods but great tasting and flavor! My husband eats and loves the things I cook, I chuckle cause it is things he has said he does not like that are in the things he eats and says is so yummy! When he asks me what's in it, I tell him... He says, well I guess I like that now...
