 Hi,

I am posting on my husbands behalf.  His month anniversary is the 5th.  How are those of you a month out feeling??? I know how I felt with my VSG but I wasn't sure if this would be very different.  He seems very tired.  I am trying to get him to increase his protein.  He is taking his vitamins and doing well with the soft foods.  Any suggestions would be great!!! Ty!!!

I still felt tired at the end of the day at the one month point.  I felt great during the day but the end of the day was crash time.

I have been able to get 80+ grams of protein since the end of week one, and I hope your husband is able to get his required amount in each day.  It makes a really big difference.

Are you concerned that he's not getting as much as he should?  does he have a support group?  a dietician on call?  can you pull some strings and help influence his protein choices?

Good luck!

Thank you!  I am his main support, hence why I am posting here.  I am very proud of him he is doing better with his protein.  I just worry.  Thank you again!

I'm one month out and still need to take naps but I also have chronic back pain. I notice that I can pull off a full day of work but the next day I'm very tired. Luckily for me I work 3 days a week away from home and 2 days a week online at home. I was told that I would feel tired and to allow for extra rest. It's strange but all I need sometimes is just 1/2 hour to lay down and I'm much better. Other times I sleep 10-12 hours through the night! Hopefully, your husband can have some down time for rest for another month. I was also told that my internal stiches would take 6 to 8 weeks to dissolve. Hope he feels better soon :)

Seems like around the 6 week mark, I started to feel less tired. Of course for the first 3 months I was struggling with a reocurring stricture, which kept me from getting good nutrition.

Just keep encouraging him to get in the protein, water and vitamins. He will bounce back probably in the next few weeks.

I am almost 1 month out and at the end of the day I crash.  I always have such great intentions of going home and walking, but I cant seem to do it.  I have noticed when I get in all my protein I do feel better.  Has he tried protein shakes.  I have one in the morning (on my way to work) and one after work around 5pm and that makes 50g of protein right there.  It took me 3 tries to find a protein shake I like and could drink so if he doesnt like one, have him try a few.  It really is the easiest way to get in all the protein this early out.  Also, they take forever to drink..lol
Good luck!!

I am 5 weeks out today and feel much better than last week at week 4..  I try not to take any naps during the day any longer if I do I keep it to only 20 min. instead of 2 hours..  I will be going back to work at 6 weeks.  I will go back on a Friday this way I have the weekend to rest if need be.

When I talked to the dr. office yesterday they said that being tired is expected and make sure I get all my protein in.  They even had me bump up to 4 shakes a day instead of  my 3.  I need to make sure the protein shakes are in before any food.

Tell him keep up the good work!
